My computer meets all of the minimal requirments for the upcoming game, Crysis (recommended specs are 2gb RAM, Athlon X2 4000, X1800). If I were to upgrade my RAM to 2gb, does anybody think that I will at least be able to play the game at a good framerate on min settings, or will it look AND run like crap.

Also, I might be able to upgrade my 6800go mxm Type III to a x1800 type III, but no one has been able to confirm whether or not the x1800 would even work in a z81sp. If my notebook would run the x1800, how do you think that it would effect the performance? Would my puny P4 bottleneck the performance?

A site that sells MXM cards says that they have succesfully upgraded the 6800 in an amillo notebook to the x1800, but that's an amillo.

P.S. All of my specs are listed below.

I'm sure your computer could run it on mediumish specs without trouble. Upgrading to 2gb of RAM would probably help with keeping things smooth. Maybe you could even upgrade that processor if you wanted.

Mediumish specs or settings? Like I said b4, my computer only meets the min requirments, so i wouldn't expect to be able to run the game on anything except the minimal settings, and at a minimally tolerable framerate.

Mediumish graphic settings. You'll be fine.

Crysis is a first person shooter (Which has NOT been released yet) that has huge graphics requirements. I havent read too much about what the story's about. I want to be surprised.

I remember there was a similar fear about systems running Doom 3 when it was announced.

Interesting article about both Crysis and DX10 from IGN. Thought I'd post it here rather than start a new thread.

    Great post notebook_ftw, thanks.
It's great to see a company actually paying attention to PC gamers - EA, and so on are lazy - they produce console games, then port them over; they run abysmally on even the fastest PCs.

Sounds like I will be able to play Crysis fine if that statement holds true. Now only to wait until the game actually comes out . .

Those system requirements are insane! Jeeze Thats not very good if the recamended are a x1800 or the minimum is a 7600. I thought the 7600 was a good card but now its the minimum. No other games are even close to this even oblivion isnt that bad.

It sucks, I have no good video cards that support vga, I can't really go connecting a crt to any of my good pcs and play crysis on it :-\

And no, connecting analog to digtal can damage your monitor over time, I'm not gonna do that.

The guy got it wrong, minimum settings are 6600...

It is refreshing to see them try to make it backwards-compatible by a couple of years though.

I guess the minimum requirments for the gpu is a 6600 (640*480, min settings, 25fps avg) and the recommend settings for the gpu is at least a 7600(800*600 med settings, 25-30fps avg). That's what i think since the end of august 2006.

I belive this game takes advantage of dual core/multicore. So those of you with that, will see boost in FPS.

No, the recommended GPU is a 7800GTX.

GN: What kind of visual advantages will DX10 allow for? Can you go over some specific points?

Cevat Yerli: Improved image fidelity, more intense atmosphere, faster framerates.

    Well, that was obvious.

You won't see any increase in performance if your fully gpu bound. But if your not than you can get up to an 80% increase in performance from dual core.
