I'm familiar with battlefield 2 and I can run it on max with a old geforce 6800. The geforce 6800 is equivalent to the 7600 about.

if your buying a laptop soon get a 8600GT or 8700GT, or if your budget doesn't allow get a 8400GS which will play both games fine.

i dont know about battlefield but i can run ut3 and call of duty 4 at pretty good frame rates at low settings with an 8400m gs which is generally available in most low priced laptops but if you have the chance to upgrade to 256mb card i would definitely do it.the dell vostro models seem to be the best bang for your buck or try ibuypower.com

Is the 8600 better than the 7900 or 7600? What are the GS and G power stuff at the end? And the 128??? what is that

    128 is the bit bus

8600 GS and GT, GT beats GS. 8600's are better than 7600 but not as good as the 7900 GS

So what makes the 7900 better than the 8600? It's a lower number

OMG not again please stop looking at the numbers.

    8400m<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<7600go

Well for first it is a high end card(7900gs) secondly it has larger bandwith, thirdly it's bigger eventhough it doesnt matter much....

    8600 NEW midrange card
7900 GS one year ago high end card

8600 equals 7800 go or about 6800 ultra but it will suck compared to them in high resolution but beat them in shader power.
    any more questions?

So an 8400 is equivalent to a 7900 which is the same as 6800 Ultra?

No you cant compare them like that it's only assumption what i wrote.

8400m is a ****ty card that can run vista AERO fluently and that is pretty much it
7900Gs/GTX older top of the range GPU can run ANY game at least on med-high settings.
6800 Ultra is a outdated powerhouse but still performs simillarly to 8600GS or better on higher resolution.

Also keep in mind that if you ever want to upgrade to DirectX 10 games, only a Geforce 8xxx can run those (not counting ATI counterparts)

    8400m GS isn't a horrible card o_O

If you're a casual gamer wanting to play Orange Box or whatnot...it should be fine. No crysis sure, but ability to play quite a few games.

Best reasonable card for a 13/14 inch laptop (outside of Sager)

i know everybody is frustrated with questions like 8600<ati 9700, but if u feel all upset about it - don't f'in answer the question if u feel like it has been answered a few thousand times. there are people out here that don't mind answering those without the use of "OMG", "newb", "stupid", etc.... did u guys forget why u r here for? yeah, exactly - to help people out. next time u feel like typing some obscene comments like that - stop and don't type anything!

Aye, I was being sarcastic. I've learned alot since then wolf.
The sarcasm wasn't mean, just a logical response to some of the convoluted explanations people have given when comparing graphics cards.
