I need a laptop just for WoW. Currently playing on an old HP with integrated video and I want to pass this down to my son (it gets around 11 fps) and move up to the cheapest thing I can find that will give me ~50 fps in WoW. Dropping into the 30s is fine when raiding, but something that can sustain 50s would be preferred. I don't need 4x AA or anything like that, low settings are fine.

Pretty much any dedicated GPU will be sufficient for low settings. AMD/ATI HD 3450 or 9400M G (or GS) or better should be sufficient at 1366x768 or 1280x800 resolution.

you may want to check out the asus x83. it has a decent dedicated video card and is around 699 after 100 dollar rebate. you could play more then just WoW np.

My friend's laptop with a GMA 950 can run it pretty well as well as my old desktop with a Gefoce 6200. Playing on my 9400m is decent and it looks/runs well enough that I don't need to switch to the 9600GT.

wow graphics look like they were made in 1999, so i thought you could play it on almost anything

While it looks like it has crappy graphics WoW is very demanding now thanks to the WotLK expansion.
And when Catalysm gets released they will update the rest of the game (Azeroth map) to the same detail as Northrend.
Dont think Blizzard will update Outlands map.
So i recommend you get a gpu with some processing power like ATI Mobility HD 4650+ or Nvidia Geforce 250m+. -
If you can spend around 1650 go and get http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=G73JH-A1
This machine will last you for the next 3 years minimum for gaming and will work for anything! -
well that ASUS laptop would be great when it comes out but i would look for something else... ASUS Gseries is known to have a lot of problems and be quite toasty.... if u wait a while(1-2 months) , u could get great new laptops... IMO it's worth the wait but basically anything more than a 9300M GS or ATI HD 4330 should do...

I second that!, if you want to go "the cheap way" you can get a core i3 or even a core i5, and I think that even the intel´s IGP would be enough for lower details, or you could grab a core i3-5 with dedicated video like the upcoming HD 5470 which is powerful enough to run that game in at least medium, the HD 5470 is comparable with a 8600gt which is VERY decent and it has direct x11 support.
