Just finished Mirrors Edge. The graphics of this game are just mindblowing. Sometimes better then crysis (in some places) Took a bunch of screenshots with all settings highest, 4x AA. 1920x1200 resolution.

    majhost.com Gallery

My favorites are the yellow/white building, and the pantings.

Was a good game. I like the gameplay of Mirror's Edge a lot, so much better than the repetitive Prince of Persia (2008).

making a load of square blocks to put textures on is pretty easy and considering the game is city based square buildings that's not great, the textures they put on those are amazing though. i was in awe of the screenshots of the paintings and the brushstrokes on them

You can't even compare the two, as for the use of the term art style, Mirror's Edge far surpasses that of Crysis. What Crysis has is amazing technical graphics, I mean nothing has yet beat it on that category.

What we have here is Art vs. Technology.

    Mirror's Edge = Art
    Crysis = Technology

It's like comparing A Clockwork Orange to The Matrix, there is no comparison. They both excel in different fields.

It's a beautifully designed game (visually). The really bright colours as you enter buildings can be somewhat blinding though at first instance.

The game was awesome, but made me sick about 25% in. The first person aspect of the game just messed with my head more than any FPS I had ever played.

I can't wait to get my M15x to play it again, maybe this time I'll switch from mouse to the 360 gamepad

I got so used to using the mouse and keyboard, that the 360 gamepad felt like a detriment.

I never got to finish this game because my 360 RROD'ed. :(

It was awesome (I guess?) how this game made me nauseous after 30 minutes of playing (and dying a few times). This is the only game that has ever made me feel a realistic sense of altitude.

I liked the game but never finished it. Got stuck at one part and took a break for a while, reinstalled windows and never got around to installing it. I don't even know if I have the save backed up. Now that I have more time I'm going to finish it.

No, I actually did mean art style. Yes, in terms of tech, Crysis is better, but I still prefer the way the shaders of Crysis influence so much within the environment. The way it looks, the way it feels, the visuals and impression that you get when you stand on that rise above the bay at the beginning of the game, during the sunrise, when the sun rays shine through the trees, and the water sparkles and shines. I encompass all that in my term of art style. Perhaps you consider it to be something different.

The differences are subtle, but I enjoy the additional realism. That laptop should handle the PhysX fine, I have similar specs but the Sager NP9850. There is also a patch that addresses PhysX problems, I got it from Gamershell. Here is some pics of the differences, video would probably be better though. lol

The FPS stays 30 + for me, the only reason for the drop in some of the screens was me mashing the screen shot button for FRAPs during intense action sequences with a lot going on.

Edit: With all this talk of Mirror's Edge I just had to load it up again and play. XD

The best thing about mirror's edge in my opinion is that it manages to use the Unreal 3 engine without everything looking as if it was covered with glossy paint. I agree, the textures are nice looking, i just wish it didn't get so frustrating at times (indoor parking with a swat team anyone?).

I might just get it in my PS3 and play it again and get a couple of trophies as well. Theme song is great too.

The game with PhysX looks worth it. Unfortunately, i don't think the 9650M GT in my N50 is enough to handle it at max with PhysX and the HD5870 in my G73 obviously doesn't have PhysX

Is there any way possible to activate physx on an ati gpu? Can you still enable it if you don't have an nvidia card? If not then I'm annoyed at the developers for only supporting nvidia - couldn't they just have used havok or something and not exlude half their pc customers?

Nice graphics though - would the laptop in my sig be able to play it at high at 1080p even?

To be honest, Phsyx is not as essential as lots of people make out. It is definitely beneficial, but not as amazing as many would think.

Cakefish, I believe that it would work on your laptop (it works on mine which is similarly specced. Yours should actually be better since it doesn't use 4 cores of my 720QM).

People make PhysX out to be essential? Who? Where? Actually doesn't appear you are being honest at all more like making something up.

It isn't amazing? I just spent a half hour running through fog to watch it flow around me, and leave a path that slowly fills in. I almost get killed watching bullets shred plastic and cloth, and shatter glass. Pretty amazing, am I one of the many that would think this? I don't know, only you are counting.

As a side note how is Nvidia paying for extra features excluding gamers? Odd statement, if the game only worked on Nvidia cards because Nvidia paid off the developers I could see how that would warrant complaints.

I was going to go ATi this time, cause I liked what they did with DX10.1 and early adopting of DX11. Sadly I like PhysX too much and it was not enough to lure me away from Nvidia yet.

I do agree the game looks amazing and is fun to play. But at parts, it can get ridiculously hard even on easy unless you watch a walkthrough.

I thought the game was alright. It had tons of potential but falls short imo. Free running was the best and I loved those parts, but they often felt way too short. And sometimes the game was just WAY too "you need to hit this spot exactly or else you can't jump over/under/around this"... and that just felt really cheap.

The parts of the game that threw you into combat, the mechanics felt broken or sloppy. Didn't like em one bit. And the flash style cutscenes just looked like a cheap way to get them done. It added nothing to the game and really broke the immersion imo.

The concept is there, but like Assassin's Creed 1 much refinement is needed.

But if you liked Mirror's Edge and you own Crysis, there is a Mirror's Edge Crysis Mod, check it out! Maybe there's more out there too?

I too immensely enjoyed this game and want them to improve on the little things (like combat flow and ability to freerun anywhere) in a sequel. Although EA has unofficially hinted at a sequel, given the game did not sell as intended the first time around, I think we're faced with the harsh reality that this will either not happen or happen with a drastically smaller budget and team.

They are great screenshots, but on some of the images there are jagged edges. It was kind of annoying and somewhat disappointing. Is that a limitation of the game?

You have not experience Mirrors Edge until you play it on Eyefinity :D

The monitors surrounding your vision and adding the extra FOV really enhances the games 3d aspect and adds a new layer of depth. You are no longer playing with Fay, you are suddenly playing AS Fay.

I found this game very fun. For some reason, I just couldn't get past the 4th or 5th level due to motion sickness. All that running and jumping around would get me so nauseous that I finally stopped playing.

Well, everyone has their own opinion, but when I play Crysis I see a beautiful, lush, photograph. When I play Mirror's Edge I see a painting. A modern art masterpiece full of surrealism.

it is quite square is it not from what i have seen, no? and i said the textures were amazing. from what i have seen the colours are very nicely picked and blended, but i have the game now and will be installing so i'll see for myself rather than from screenshots and vids.

I must agree. I refuse to play with a controller now that I've experienced Microsoft's racing wheel (works on PC and Xbox 360, although you need an Xbox 360 wireless receiver on the PC). Forza 3 especially feels so much better.

Im rockin a G27, I used it for mostly Dirt 2 and Burnout Paradise.

Before that I had a Momo Racing wheel. The Momo was great for Dirt 2 due to the lots of bumping around but the G27 is a much higher quality wheel.

Here is my system on a Dirt 2 run before I got the G27
