The details in the textures are just awesome. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

I remembered playing this and the physx slowed it down so much i ended up turning it off completely, shame because physx was fun to mess with,

Also, Vicious, I have always been curious, what do you do for a living? I was just wondering if it had anything to do with computer science....

For a living,.. not so much computer stuff.

That is what I do for a hobby.

Just never got myself in the right place to do what I am good at for a living.

Maybe later in life when my kids get older.

    love mirrors edge!
    great graphics , great story.
while playing however i always thought how much cooler it would be if we could see faith do her acrobatics from a third person perspective instead of first person

You can, sort of: there's a script that will set 3rd-person cam, but it doesn't look that great, and you wouldn't want to anyways. All the breathtaking beauty, the immersion, the connection you feel to the environment, everything that makes Mirror's Edge unique and stunning is so because it is experienced in the first person; 3rd-person would destroy all of that.

Hmm. I just tried Mirror's Edge (was $5 on Steam a while back), and works just fine on my laptop with PhysX on. I'm only at the second level though, so if it gets worse later, I don't know. I'm playing at 1920x1200, no AA and 'Highest' settings. Vsync is off as well.

3D on the other hand more than halves the frame rate. goes straight from 45-61 to 20-30... Terribly unfortunate, because the game looks so fantastic in 3D.

yea, well it probably was a lot more difficult in the past especially considering how technology hadn't increased so much until recently. I was wondering because you have such a nice setup and you know so much about computers and I might be majoring in computer science next year in college. :D

No trouble here running with PhysX enabled on XPS M1730 8800m GTX SLI at 1920x1200, rarely drops below 40 fps with PhysX enabled.

PhysX doesn't add much to the game. Most of the time it's only noticeable in side-by-sides screenshots. So if you want to save about 10-20 fps, go ahead and disable it.

I find that comp-sci's rarely have "nice" setups in the conventional sense. Aside from 3D graphics majors, you can usually tell a true hacker if he's ecstatic about finding a 386 on ebay so he can add to his beowulf cluster.
