    I just wanted to know how does a Mobile Athlon X2 64bit TK-53 1.7GZ
match up against my Athlon X2 5200 desktop CPU 2.6GZ

gimme a percentage on how faster the desktop is.

    Lets say 30% faster?

It is just a simple equation to convert the difference of the raw numbers into a percentage.

In reality there are probably other factors into finding the exact difference.

so if Athlon X2 5200 2.6GZ can load far cry in 20 seconds

then how long will it take a tk 53 mobile athlon 1.7GZ to do?

no way to tell, but since you mentioned its a laptop, and it is using AMD ( ;) ), the HDD must be 5k or less, so load times will suffer.

The AMD Mobile Athlon 64 X2 processor is based on the AMD Turion 64 X2 core which is based on the desktop AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor. ;)

The notable differences between the AMD Mobile Athlon 64 X2 processor and the AMD Turion 64 X2 processor is the amount of L2 cache and the higher clock speeds of the AMD Turion 64 X2 processor.

Both processors have a 1600MHz HyperTransport bus ( LINK) compared to the desktop processors' 2000MHz bus.

Suresh_Mohinder, You are more likely to see a greater difference in performance from other components in the notebook (Graphics card, hard drive, etc.)
