    I am confused about the speed to meet the recommended requirements for gaming.

    As many modern games require 2.0 GHz+ CPU speed for better experience in games or as its mininum requirements. How does mobile cpu speed compared to this requirement?.

    For example, I have a laptop with AMD turion 64 processor (Aspire5024WLMi). The processor is Turion64 ML-34 1.8 GHz. Does it mean that my laptop is not qualified for the CPU speed requirement of 2.0GHz?

    I also heard that Turion64 running at 1.8 GHz has performance better than Pentium-4 running at 2.0GHz, is this true. How is the turion performance actully is then? Any comparison?

    You can't really judge a CPU on the clock speed anymore. A Pentium M or Turion CPU is more than enough to run games.

    Yeah, I agree with zaz. Comparing a processor based on the clock speed is no longer valid. There are other variables which affects the performance of a processor. The Turion should have no problems running any modern game.

    Also the Turion 1.8GHz is more or less as powerful as a Pentium 4 running at ~2.8 - 3.0GHz. The main difference between a Pentium 4 and other processors(Athlon64, Turion & Pentium m) is that the P4 gets its performance from high clock speeds. The more the clock speed the better only applies to this series. Other cpus that I mentioned have taken the route of doing more work per clock cycle. Hence they run at lower clock speeds but perform mmuch better and run cooler.

    Clock speed is irrelevant as already posted - the megahertz wars were ended a while ago.

    For comparison purposes:

    Pentium M 1.73GHz = 3.2GHz Pentium 4 = Athlon 64 3200+

    1.86 = 3.4 = 3400/3500+

    2.0 = 3.6 = 3500-3800+

    2.13 = 3.8 = 3800+

    2.26 = 4.0 = 4000+

    I've had some old games which try and autodetect solely on speed, so it picks up my cpu running speedstepped down to 800Mhz, doesn't know anything about mobile processers so thinks it is fairly slow!

    I have the same problem. If games such as Half life 2 Lost coast, F.E.A.R, Call of duty 2 autodetect my computer performace. They will autoset the performance too low. Or some games give warning about meeting the requirements. But as the previous replies, I think we can override the autodetect.
