Nvidia today announced today, mobile G-Sync coming very soon for selected GPU 900 series. My question is will the current 900 series get this G Sync feature ( Software update) or Are the new laptops coming with G-Sync going to have a hardware G-Sync on there GPU?
I want to upgrade my GPU to a 970m so i am wondering if this is a softwear update or hard ware update on there 900 series GPU.

You won't get it so easily. As far as we know it needs a BIOS license and thus only G-sync PCs can use it. Though technically if you got the license, put it in your BIOS and had a compatible screen... you know.
Also, Optimus does not allow Gsync, so you could only access it with a machine with the iGPU permanently disabled. -
Have a look at this youtube vidoe on mobile G- sync runing on a normal ASUS laptop , So I am still confused about mobile G sync, will it be a software update or hardware.

Mobile G-Sync requirements:
PSR-capable TCON (eDP 1.3? and later)
G-Sync license cookie in the BIOS
No Optimus
Compatible driver (353.06 and later) -
so what does that mean? for my a laptop with 970m? New G sync Bios up date and drivers up date?

You never even said what laptop you have. And how do you know you have a G-Sync compatible BIOS and screen?

Sorry, I read some where that G sync for laptop might be a software update for laptop and not a hardware update for desktop. I have a GT70 2oc

And please continue discussion in the original thread, thanks.

But I agree, it's funny the X5 is already being refreshed when it hasn't even come out yet. -
