I'm having trouble finding out whether or not my laptop has a graphics upgrade option. It is among the Sony Vaio NR series. To be precise it is a VGN-NR120E with a IntelĀ® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. I would just like to have the ability to play decent games at best to pass the time. I'm at wits end, though I'm sure what I am asking is obvious to most of "you". Any help would be appreciated.

    The X3100 cannot be upgraded.

X3100, like almost every other laptop GPU cannot be upgraded. Generally, if you want to upgrade a GPU, you're just going to have to buy a better laptop.

Is there any way to improve the graphics in anyway to your knowledge? At best, what kind of games am I looking at? Am i still stuck in the 2nd dimension?

Downloading the latest drivers are the best you can so. Maybe overclock? But I'm not sure how/if you can do that. X3100 is a 3D capable card. You're looking at games made before 2005 on medium maybe. It's my guess from what I've been reading on these forums about it. You're not stuck in 2D though, haha :p
