    I'm wondering if anyone has a list of mobile cards and the desktop cards that they're based off.

    For example 5870 is based off of 5770/5750, etc.

    nVidia cards are welcome too.

    6990M = underclocked 6870
    GTX 580M = underclocked GTX 560Ti

    Hd6990 should be the desktop hd6850/6870 counterpart at least in terms of performance.
    Gtx580m is desktop gtx560ti iirc, while gtx570m should be somewhere in the middle of gtx550ti and gtx560.
    Gtx260m/9800m gtx should be desktop 8800gt (with lower bus width, 256 vs 348).
    Gtx580m Sli should deliver same performance of a desktop gtx570.
    This is what I know but I can be wrong on Amd side.

    It can also be verified by cross-checking their statistics on the respective wikipedia or manufacturer websites.

    6970M is an underclocked 6850 but it can easily overclock to surpass the stock clock speed of the 6850.
