Does Mobility Modder modify the official ATI driver in any way or does it just modify the installation program so that we can install the driver in a notebook?

Is there any known issues of using Mobility Modder vs using official drivers released by laptop manufacturers?

It just modifies the installer, since OEM's block regular ATi drivers from installing. Mobility Modded drivers are newer, since you can just mod the latest Catalyst drivers from ATi rather than waiting on your OEM to release their own. Unfortunately, however, it sucks for users like me; Mobility Modder doesn't work with ATi 4xxx series cards, and Dell doesn't make a habit of updating drivers for us.

It just modifies the .inf files so that ATI setup will detect the GPU and allow the install. I really got accustomed to using the DH Modder for updating a Mobility Radeon 9600 with the latest ATI drivers. Can't wait for the Modder to support the Mobility 4670.

Shroom and Dayton, have you tried the 9.7s? They installed straight-up on my Studio 17, whereas before not even mobility modded drivers would.

They won't error during install but they won't replace the Dell driver package of 8.6.

That's weird. I got the install package error, but they installed fine and the CCC works perfectly.

I tested the modder for the first time today and it corrupted all my drivers. I re-installed my original driver (9.7 catalyst) but Im now missing the catalayst centre option from my right click menu.

does anyone know how i can get that back?

Sounds like your CCC controls are a bit messed up. Uninstall specifically the CCC (Catalyst Control Center), download the stand alone download and try installing that.

Guru3d or some of the other large download sites will probably have a copy :)
If worst comes to worst; download the normal full installer from an older pack and try custom installing or just using the CCC setup included.
