Has anyone managed to make Mobility Modder work with Catalyst higher than 9.10? When I tried to install Catalyst ver. 9.11 that has been modded with Mobility Modder, it said Application Install: Install Package Failure! ATI Display Driver Final Status: Fail
    Version of Item: 8.671.0.0000
    Size: 40 Mbytes
    Error messages
Driver Install: the driver package is not signed

I have Windows setup to warn me if the driver is not signed so I don't understand why unsigned driver should fail.

I have no problem with 9.10 or earlier. I have the latest Mobility Modder from http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php .

    System:
    Sony FW190
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
    C2D T9600
    XP SP3 (All patches installed)

Did not have any trouble modding Catalyst 9.11 with the latest Mobility Modder... Maybe the installer you downloaded from ATI was bad. Try redownloading it.

Edit: I'm guessing you're using XP? If so I might be wrong as I'm on Windows 7.

j/w why would one use the modded drivers when there are mobility drivers for windows 7? Do the modded drivers work better?

I think they stopped supporting mobile gpu's on Windows 7 when it was released retail.
But anyways, maybe AMD did something to their drivers in 9.11, so just pm the Driverheaven folks and il sure they will get right on fixing it. :)

I redownloaded the driver and I still have the same problem. I noticed that the GUI for 9.11 is different and there is one extra thing there that I can't recall. I guess AMD change the installation program and that's may be why it doesn't work with current Mobility Modder. I probably would stick to 9.10 until they come up with new Mobility Modder that works with newer drivers.

I've 2x3870 and mobility modder worked for catalyst 9.11 without problems, but in xp x64...
anyway, ATI driver support sucks. Despite all the rants, they have done nothing. it's a shame.
I hope nvidia doesn't stay far behind, at least they have a good driver support.

they added a 'ATI Catalyst Install Manager' to 9.11 which doesn't show you the option to 'install unsigned driver' and it just decides to skip the driver.

    Ah ha, sneaky sneaky...

I think both ATI and nVidia are pretty good about driver updates. ATI does their release every month which is nice and also means updating drivers regularly...a good habit but tedious at times.

Hi, I can confirm that the problem only happens with XP32. I have Vista32 and XP32 in the same computer. Catalyst 9.11 installed without a hitch with Vista32 but not with XP32. I don't know why. Both OS have the latest drivers and patches.

OK, apparently the only OS that it doesn't work is XP32.

Hah, that's odd. May be the problem is card specific? Mine is Mobility HD 3470. Yours is 4650.

Edit: never mind. I thought you said XP32.

I thought I remember hearing a while back that the new Catalyst driver releases would include updates for mobile cards essentially removing the need to use mobility modder. Am I wrong?

Everything went fine installing the drivers from the link tinderbox provided, but after the installation and a reboot, i had these info shown and i think the new catalyst did not actually installed.
    Anybody?
