Which one do you think is better? I've to make a decision based on what you guys say here so this is not for fun only :). Is Radeon 9600 32 MB better than Xpress X1250 Integrated chip? (HP nc6000 vs HP 6515b only)?

Wow. That's a hard one. I would definitely try to avoid having to make this decision if at all possible. The 9600 probably edges the X1250 out in shader power, but you will be very much limited by 32MB in modern games.

On a side-note, the 9600 is way older than the X1250. What are the CPU's these laptops are equipped with? That would probably make or break the decision in my mind.

I have an X1270, and while I don't know how well the 9600 performs, my X1270 seems to be limited in games by my processor, as regardless of the resolution, I get the same FPS. On the other hand, I can get 30-some FPS in games like Counter Strike Source, so its not that bad.

Thanks for the quick reply both of you :)

I must make the decision :) no choice. And since I can't afford the latest and greatest laptop with high-end graphics, my choice is rather limited to these two.

    Thats what I thought too.

The one with 9600 has Intel Pentium M 1.7 Ghz (not dual core) whereas the one with X1250 has a AMD Sempron 3500+ (1.8 Ghz 512 K L2). So I guess they are pretty even in terms of CPU as well ?

I could not find benchmarks that compare these two graphics. If you guys have friends with the same graphic cards, could you be able to do some benchmarks for me :) ? (Half Life 2 Demo should be good)

I play these (sorted by the most played on top vs least played on bottom):

    1. Medal of Honor Spearhead
    2. Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars
    3. Half Life 2
    4. Counter Strike Source
    5. Need for Speed Most Wanted

    Thats about it :).

Here is a Link to compare. I would go 1250. Could I ask what are you paying?

I went on Best Buy Canada and for $50 Canadian you can get dual core for $100 you can get even better dual core. Just wanted to let you know. Graphics is Nvidia so not as good as 1250 but still good. Good Luck!

I'd definetely get the x1250. Even though the 9600 is dedicated, it is at least 4 generations old and inferior to the x1250.
