I recently got a Mobility Radeon X700 from Ebay. My intention was to buy an older laptop with a x300 and upgrade it. However, I'm more than likely going to get a laptop with a x1400 or x1600. Is the x700 compatible with other latops like Acer or Dell? I just don't know which latops can use this card. It also makes a lousy bookmark.

99.99% sure it will only work in the type of laptop it came out of. There is a sticky somewhere about this, that will shoot all your hopes and dreams about GPU upgrades in Laptops.

Chances are that card will only work in the type of laptop it came out of. Its not going to fit in anything else.

You will not be able to put it into a new laptop unless the laptop could previously be outfited with the x700. Unfortionately laptop cards are not like the desktop ones. :(

There is another guy in Ebay who claims that this card can be used in a XPS or 9300 laptop.

There is a group of notebooks that use the MXM graphics system, which allows you technically to upgrade the GPU. But because of no support from notebook manufacturers(mainstream), its hard to get those notebooks.

I seriously doubt that, as neither the 9300 nor the XPS ever used an x700. Dells have a proprietary graphics card format, and will only take cards that were designed for that (e.g., the x300, 6800, or 7800).
