im trying to overclock my laptop gpu a little and powerstrip, rivatuner, atitraytools, and atiTool arent allowing me too, is it because im using the ati drivers the laptop came with? I looked for drivers for this card and the ati website doesnt show them, what should i do?

yea ATI driver won't allow you OC, try omega drivers
-
ok i now have the latest catalyst 8.4 from using modded driver.net, now i have the option to overclock but when i do in atitraytools, i get a bluescreen instantly even by OCing like 5mhz

The same ting happened to me early on with the HD2600.
Check the ATiTools feedback forum and guru3D forum and see if the HD3650 has been added for support yet. This is an issue for both IHVs where it takes a bit of time for the apps to work smoothly with the newer hardware. Once they added MHD2600 support I had no problem whereas before even a slight off stock change would cause it to whiteout and freeze up. -
so im guessing its basically a matter of time before atitool gets updated and allows me to overclock without instant bluescreening and major artifacting then crash?
when i click the + in atitool to put the gpu core up it goes down instead? and downclocks the gpu till crash. Im using ati tool .27 beta 3 i think from november 2007 -
^^^^^oh and btw, im running catalyst 8.4, is this the best video drive for me to use?
-
are you on XP?
try this: http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati_winxp.php -
im on vista, doesnt seem like they have any drivers at omega for vista
-
I thought the stock 3DMark06 score on the mobile 3650 would be higher than what your sig shows.
8600m appears to be just as good. -
yea well the drivers im using suck, because omegadrivers is still working on ati drivers for vista 32bit, so ill need to wait till then. Some dude on campus here got his to over 5000 3dmark06 points and he had to use modded drivers
-
also, im using the latest drivers from asus for the ati card, is this fine? im very confused on how these drivers work. It says i have driver version 8.4..something...so ill assume its catalyst 8.4...but still when i try to overclock it for some reason downclocks me then i crash
