I decided to create a new thread for modded nvidia driver regardless of driver version because I found it hard to keep the list of modded drivers in my head and searching through forums which was the best drivers after GP testing!
@6.|THE|1|BOSS|.9 I will link your XtremeG modded drivers 417.58 HF

why would someone install these over? If they promise so much perfomance they must be tweaking some settings, which ?
6.|THE|1|BOSS|.9 likes this. -
It's also interesting that if they improve things this much why doesn't nVidia use these settings from the outset? It's not like nVidia are idiots that don't know how to configure a driver. Sure there's bugs in drivers, but also building software drivers for windows (especially high performance gaming) is HARD with so many variables and system config combinations. Perhaps stability/compatibility reasons? But then why not just have settings per GPU? They would definitely want better performance/playability to keep people from buying AMD. My guess is YMMV for games vs benchmarks vs what program are you running vs what GPU you have vs etc...
Zymphad and 6.|THE|1|BOSS|.9 like this. -
I don't know what they tweak but I'll try it out. Last time I tried @j95 which was buggy for most people actually worked flawlessly. I'm using stock drivers now since toggling between Secure and Legacy boot wrecks my TPM driver and so far no issues.
I'll try both modded drivers from XG and j95.jaybee83, 6.|THE|1|BOSS|.9 and macmyc like this. -

I wanted to reply here just to keep it separated from the main official driver
Well.. I'm afraid that you gotta do it by yourself
in my case benchmarking will affect my GPU alot and it may fry it because it is overvolted
putting unusual stress or doing unrealistic stress that you will
never achieve it on gaming sessions it is dangerous especially while overvolting... I'm not prepared to fry my GPU to prove it
But here's what I observed comparing between official ones vs XG...
-Less microstutters
-Higher OC Potential (Gives me additional 50 ~ 90 MHz more OC) with the same overvolt (I use +75mv) going higher voltage gives me black screen
-Higher FPS [Not significant-(YMMV)] (due to less stuttering I guess you feel that you are playing at higher frame rate
)
-Less latency per a frame (Means smoothie gameplay)
A happy user have seen the difference also because of using XG modded drivers
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...3-owners-lounge.797884/page-800#post-10824002
I know the performance tweaks is kinda obsolete but it have the ability to be stable more than official ones specially when playing with volts & OC frequency
At the end.... you will not see a significant difference (but it doesn't mean the difference is not there
) while on stock frequency between Official drivers & XG but you will immediately see the difference once playing with the volts or frequency or
both!
So....... Hail to XG forever! And I hope they continue providing up to date drivers for as long as they can
-
Would be very interesting see a comparison of stock, j95, and XG, especially:
frame rates
frame times
clocks/overvoltage/undervoltage capability
image quality
micro stutter
Unfortunately I don't have time right now to do this due to finals =[Vasudev likes this. -
dude, u left out j95 drivers
in any case, +rep for the idea of a separate thread, it was getting indeed a bit cluttered haha
gonna take some work though to keep this up to date

Disable driver signature
since it's a modified driver (modded)
-
Thanks for reminding me about that. I just found out that disable driver signature in Advanced Startup option isn't permanent
.
Downloading the driver right now

p/s: This is what I got using 416.94 pure desktop driver: https://www.3dmark.com/fs/173730896.|THE|1|BOSS|.9 and Vasudev like this. -
I just installed XG driver and ran FireStrike. Graphic score improves a bit

I will test it using desktop GPU drivers.
Your FS score is really good. My 980M at stock only manages 8300. Do you use notebook/desktop gpu drivers? I'm desktop ones.6.|THE|1|BOSS|.9 and tungd678 like this. -

So I tested XG desktop driver (416.94) with Firestrike and got quite similar score: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/31134893?
Good news is that it only need +87.5mV now. With notebook driver, I need +100mV with the same overclock.c69k, 6.|THE|1|BOSS|.9 and Vasudev like this. -

jaybee83, c69k, tungd678 and 1 other person like this. -
Those FireStrike scores are only for showing how far this card could be overclocked
. I'm using 180W psu right now so I only set +200Mhz gpu clock & +400Mhz memory clock @1.0V for daily gaming
.
I also tested j95's modded driver (desktop version) which requires higher voltage compare to XG drivers and also got same score in FireStrike.
I also notice some problems:
1) I ran unigine heaven and my cpu throttles to base clock after 20-25 minutes, in throttlestop it shows gpu power limit (gpu was running at +330/400Mhz @1.075mV).
2) I ran FireStrike benchmark with +330/400Mhz @1.075mV and it passed but when I ran FireStrike stress test, the test canceled itself.
3) I played Arma 3 with same config overclock as above and the game would freeze after 15-20 minutes but I don't have such problem when playing Zelda. Both games are CPU intensive and gpu usage about the same.
P/s: those problems above are not XG drivers's fault as I have similar problems with stock and j95 driver. Will get 240W psu later and do test again. I think those problems caused by 180W psu not providing enough power.Last edited: Dec 11, 20186.|THE|1|BOSS|.9 and Vasudev like this. -
3dmark is turning to junk these days, a slight OC doesn't work on new version and on old version it worked flawlessly!
Test games and not 3dmark.tungd678 likes this. -
+300Mhz core clock, +400Mhz mem clock @1.05V and played Arma 3 for 1 hour. So far got no freeze, nearly no micro stutter (only saw 1), fluid gameplay ( mouse movement seems smoother than before).
Gonna stick with XG drivers

I download the official ones.. and I debloat it and when it gets debloated... I compare it with the XG package and I delete the folders depending to the official debloated driver
and I replace the setup.cfg file
To enjoy the best of the two worlds.. lite & modded XG drivers with Phyx package taken from the official driver package

I knew about xtreme G drivers years ago, and was able to get a bump in overclocking and slight i mean like 20 point improvement in benchmarks...benchmarks are one thing games another....in games i sometimes saw equal at worse and a bump of many fps (20fps) in some less demanding games.....long story short. they are worth the trouble

hacktrix2006 Hold My Vodka, I going to kill my GPU
@6.|THE|1|BOSS|.9 I have tried the XG just to see what they are like and boy doesn't it really kill performance the frametimes on BF:V is worse with XG drivers then stock, its not smooth but micro stuttering to hell and this is just at stock clocks, Its even worse with OC Scanner Profile. No offence to you and each to their own like but i think i will be going back to J95's drivers.
Also side note as well your drivers doesn't have all the GPU ID's in them.vIkInG_w0w, Vasudev and 6.|THE|1|BOSS|.9 like this. -

I can see that you got pascal GPU.. so.. I guess or maybe the XG drivers doesn't go well with it.. the benefits is much more for those who got nvidia maxwell gpus
yet XG is highly dependent to nVidia base driver versions and to users configuration
so... I won't be surprised when I see reports of negative performance and it is normal to happen due to how those XG drivers are tweaked
Nothing is better than enjoying the adventure of trying & testing
that is the only way that we can decide what is best for us or what is not
in order to decide... you must try

Yes I have a Pascal GPU (shouldn't have but I do), it was the 417.58 HF XG driver you posted I tested. However I am now back on 416.xx seems the best driver thus far for my GTX1060.
Thanks for not taking it personally though my dude. I thought I give them a shot used to use the XG Forceware drivers back in the day.

I am not the ones who needs to ask for.... I didn't make the XG drivers
I pointed to this thread specifically for 2 reasons...
First.. not everyone will have positive performance and
Second... To show that if anyone want to know anything related to XG driver.. ask him on his XG reddit... not me
I even provid details about the tweaks as much as I have found on every new driver update
So... as you can see above... don't blame me for not providing enough details... this is all the information that I have got from XG. Want to know more? Ask him!
I don't care about how he do it... I care about the results

according to the reports... yes
positive performance effect is more reported on Maxwell GPU's than Pascal
but that does not mean it won't benefit Pascal or even those new Ray tracing cards

Here.. I use those tweaks personally
I use PowerThrottle due to special case... since I unlocked VBIOS for my nVidia GPU... it was power throttling all the time unless I enable PowerThrottle usage to [SET_POWER_THROTTLE_FOR_PCIe_COMPLIANCE_ON] and I no more suffer from PowerThrottling issues.. in fact not even at maximum load on GPU unless it reaches to 83C (which it never touches it)
by default my unlocked VBIOS is set to 89C maximum
but I prefer to be more conservative since I'm overvolted GPU
I have used alot of combination and those are the best for my own GPU
I don't know if it will work with others optimal or not
