Hi all, been playing Fallout 3 recently, and i was just wondering wether there are any RPG games with similar content to the opening sections of the game (in the vault).
I usually play FPS, and im not really into WoW and games like that, but i liked the interaction and upgrading abilities etc that this game offers.
Any ideas?

Mass Effect is a really good post-modern theme RPG. This wiki link has a pretty decent overview of the game:

Fantasy RPG's to be on the lookout for, March/April-ish 2009 are Dragon Age: Origins and (Divine)Divinity 2: Ego Draconis. -

Mass Effect seconded its about the closest thing to an RPG these days on a PC.

I was going to say Mass Effect but Fallout 3 is the new king now ^_^

Fer gosh sakes, try Oblivion if you haven't, Morrowind is good also (if a bit old/buggy). If you like Fallout 3, you'll most likely like those, unless you're absolutely dead-set against fantasy settings.
-
I think Mass Effect is pretty godly. You might not be able to create your own personality and character, but it is great.
My favorite RPG that I've played that has come out within the last ten years: KOTOR I + II. -
I actually didn't like Mass Effect much. It was pretty buggy when I played it, so that may be why I couldn't get into it. Kept crashing and burning on me.
And OMG, KOTR II. I loved that game. I totally forgot about it. Gotta find it any play it again. -

Oh! Just remembered! Temple of Elemental Evil dealt with it too. HIGHLY under rated game in my opinion. Could have been much better. It had its share of buggy play, not to mention getting nerfed do to real world political pressure at the time. But still was a pretty twisted game.

Space Siege isn't exactly an RPG, but you may wish to check it out as well.

First off, I didn't take offence to anything; unlike you, accusing me of insulting you. If I did take offence somewhere along the line, by all means; point it out.
Secondly, I would like to point out that my original post (you remember the first thing I said that sparked this lengthy thread?) was based on the numerous reviews of the game online by IGN and Gamespot as well as my own experience with the game; I am only one of the few who thinks that the Witcher includes modern themes. -

Also my favorite for traditional feeling rpg was the one player story mode for phantasy star universe.
-
If your going to say that your opinion was based on IGN and Gamespot than you should have sourced it in your original post so I had an idea of what you were talking about.
What I am trying to say is the game does not relate to modern themes because it does not mention any actual modern situations unlike say a game like Fallout 3 does. Decision making and ethics does not make it a modern RPG. -
Lads just relax and stay on topic to help the OP. Thank you.

Honestly, if you're going to argue like this, use PM's instead of taking control of the OP's thread.
-
Hello? Everybody. Racism and ethical dilemmas ARE modern. Not exclusively, but still modern and still related to life now. Period.
And yes; I'm fully aware The Witcher is not set in a modern world, but it does contain modern themes. You two seem to be arguing over different topics completely.
The Witcher is a fantasy RPG with [not exclusively] modern themes.
I still recommend KOTOR. I poured 50 hours of my life into that game, and I never actually got around to finishing the second. But it was shaping up to be wonderful. I highly suggest you give it a shot if you haven't already, OP. -
oblivious and elder scrolls of course
since they are basically made by the same company
also, try out mass effect. I have heard good things about it.
