You know, I just re-installed UT2004 yesterday, and with all of the free bonus packs installed it has 165 maps. That doesn't even include the later individual releases like Icarus and Forbidden released by Epic. Not to mention patches and bonus packs added an updated DX9 renderer, added a native Linux client, completely remastered all of the sounds, added native 64-bit executables for Windows and Linux, and added at least a dozen new mutators and several new vehicles.

I paid $40 for UT2004 when it was new. MW2 is $60 new, and then two $15 map packs for what, less than 20 total maps? Activision are a gang of thieves, that's all I really have to say on the subject.

These people are money-hungry s, but that doesn't stop me from buying those maps. They really know how to do business by adding those CoD 4 maps.

So you are effectively conceding to the fact that Activision is ripping you off yet you will continue to buy from them?

This is ridiculous. I feel sorry for whoever buys these MW2 map packs. Every other PC developer out there gives out maps as free DLC on the PC. Valve and DICE included. Yet Actvision has the nerve to charge $15 for a four maps, two of them not even new?

    I regret the day I bought MW2 for $60. Now it's just a paperweight on a shelf. A paperweight I can't sell either.

If I could, I would hug you for saying that. (lol)

The funny thing is, I read an article the other night when I learned they where bring out another Map Pack, and they where saying how much money they made JUST from the Stimulus Map Pack (in the ball park of 12 Million dollars profit), and yet damn near everyone I talk to says the maps are garbage (I didn't buy them, so I wouldn't know).

I find it funny they have the time to release new map packs so they can make more money, but take there sweet sweet time to patch a completely broken game (and if you don't think it is, your koo koo for coco puffs).

Never in my life will I buy another product from IW or Activison. All they care about is money, and what's even more funny is that some people still don't realize it, and continue to fund them by paying a RIDICULOUS price for just a few maps (and some aren't even new!).

Please, if you have any dignity left, or sense of judgment, just take a moment and realize how much they are ripping you off, and don't buy these maps. (Although I can see it now, thousands will buy the maps even though they hated the previous map pack, and they will hate this one to, and get upset and break things, and swear, yet they will continue to play it, and continue to get ripped off).

Edit: Just wanted to add I have nothing against people who want to purchase this Map Pack. All the points I stated above are my personal opinion/experience. If you want to buy it, that is your decision and you are entitled to it. For be me to judge what makes you happy. :)

Yes, I am "effectively conceding to the fact that Activision is ripping me off yet I will continue to buy from them." I paid $40 for MW2, I paid $13.50 for the first map pack, I paid $30 for two copies of the first map pack which I gave to two of my friends. You say that they shouldn't charge for maps, and I agree, but the morals behind charging doesn't outweigh how much enjoyment I (and apparently a lot of other people) find in this game.

Yep, and all I was trying to say is that even though they shouldn't charge for maps, they are charging and they're making money. What's that mean? Means they know how to do business and means they know how to make people like a game. I would never pay for the DLC on Borderlands.

Actually, what they are really doing is further alienating their PC player base. After the debacle that MW2 on the PC was, I doubt the next COD game on the PC will be of much success, even if they do include dedicated servers.

Companies have a right to make money, but sometimes it turns into pure greed where they try to milk every last cent out of customers and that is when things get nasty. Companies should try to keep their customers happy, happy means customers will be more likely to buy their next game. Making customers happy involves giving people free stuff, people like free stuff. Look at Valve for instance, they never charge for DLC for their games. People love Valve, they make great games and are a great company who listens to their community and supports them.

Personally, I doubt I will be buying any game published by Activision in the near future due to the way they feel about and treat their customers (I.E. CRAP). I'll be looking at MoH instead of Black Ops next fall.

But... but, the third DLC is awesome.....

Also, I hated Vacant and Strike from CoD4 so this map pack has negative incentive for me now.

I agree with everything you said, but you get what you pay for and they did make a good game, so I feel like they deserve what I paid for the game/maps... I'll most likely be switching over to Black Ops when it comes out, and hopefully those maps will be free... and zombie mode!! :D :D :D
And Black Ops will be made by Activision? I thought it was Treyarch or something?

I know this may come as a surprise, but the only motivation these companies have is to maximize profit. Shocker, I know.

The more popular a game gets, the less well-made the sequels become since they publisher put pressure on the devs to put out more games in a shorter period of time.

Activision is the publisher so yes, they are still involved in Black Ops. Treyarch is the developers though.

Activision should just charge money for playing multiplayer on top of the retail price. Like... a monthly fee (so that you have to pay even if you are not going to play the whole month).

They should also make singleplayer DLC's using maps from the 007 Quantum Solace game which runs under the same engine, but without voice-acting, because paying voice actors is too expensive and a 90% profit is just too low.

Although this is unlikely because at that point Modern Warfare 3 should be released already, meaning they will completely shut down all their multiplayer servers because those wouldn't be making any more money, and they have to force people to buy MW3.

Treyarch is making Black Ops but Activision is still publishing it. So what you guys think about Infinity Ward practically being disbanded? Activision refused to pay promised royalties and bonuses to IW which led to it's virtual breakup and dissolution. You still want to support Activision?

Ooh, I thought Activision isn't involved in odd number CoD games
I will probably buy Black Ops. I choose what games to play based on how fun the games are, I don't choose what games to play based on some producer/publisher-evoked moral issues/dilemma that doesn't relate to me. For example, I'm not going to stop watching Kobe play basketball because he was accused of some crime. And I'm not going to stop listening to Michael Jackson because he was accused of some crime.

Say what you will, but IW -- the greedy,money-hungry,succesful business that it is -- are GENIUS.

*IW* "Hey I have a great idea...lets make a game, that DOESN"T have dedicated servers and/or mod support,so we make our loyal PC community, whom have been riding the IW train for so many loyal years, have to purchase maps in a NEWER game, that contains maps from the previous game they already bought 2years ago, 4 million dollars in profit sound about right to you?"

I honestly want to place more blame on Activision than IW. They may have had more time to implement dedicated servers rather than IWnet if they weren't on a strict 11/09 biyearly release schedule. Also, I don't think the developer has much say in how their products are priced. A large majority of profits from games usually go to the publisher rather than the developers.

I don't know if I will be buying this map pack, since I am getting burnt out on MW2 lately there has been noob tubers in every match I play. But I might just give in since I would love some more COD4 maps. I wish they released all the COD4 maps in one pack though, well at least the ones that would work in MW2.
