Just to let people know that you can get Modern Warfare 2 for the PC for $52.99 with free shipping from Newegg. Not sure how long the promotion is for or how long its been going on but didn't see it posted here. Granted it will take about a week to get it, but you're saving $7.

Please don't protest here, that's not the point. We all know the issues, there's still some people wanting to buy the game.

For free shipping, they send it snail mail, hence about a week. If you pay for 2-day then it's 2-day, don't worry.

How is Newegg managing to do this, right when the game launches? How are they eating the loss of revenue from cutting the price? Its nice to see however, take that greedy IW/Activision! :)

    Nice find htwingnut,

Sales must be down on PC, the console versions are still full price. "Speculation"
Single player looks to be 3-5 hours from reviews.

Sales aren't down on PC fyi.. and if even if they were, there isn't any data on that yet (game was released today for gods sake) ATVI wouldn't be giving discounts yet regardless.

Newegg prolly realizes that they are compteting with online distrubution and in store sales, and is worried about stuck inventory so they are giving a discount on thier end (not ATVI's) to help them sell copies, instead of losing sales to STEAM etc.

3-5 hours!? That's IT? Wasn't the first one like 15-18 hours? I usually take the game length and multiply it by two for me, well, because I'm just that slow.

First one was just as long (short?). Still to keep it on topic; would be a great deal if I didn't live in New Jersey. Still get slapped with that big fat sales tax here from the Egg.

Aren't we going off topic with this thread?

Supposedly my newegg order has shipped from New Jersey(less than 5 hours after I ordered :) ) I'm still waiting for a tracking #
So newegg has their MW2 stash in NJ instead of CA ;)

59.99 is the msrp. I'm pretty sure retailers don't get the games at that price.

IIRC, it took my geriatric self probably 15 hrs to complete, and my thread, so I can hijack it if I want to.

Exactly. I'm sure they are getting very little profit, but they need to move copies considering the resistance to buy.

Fry's Electronics has the regular edition of the game for $49.99 for all three platforms. It's supposed to expire in a few days but I forgot to note the expiry date, I know its until at least tomorrow.

They had a boatload of PC copies on the shelf, at least 40.

I just bought it for PC and installing it on Steam now.

It's odd that you mention that... I live in Edison, the same town as the NJ Newegg warehouse. Once with EggSaver shipping, they shipped it AWAY from Edison through DHL, and shipped it to my house through UPS. Crazy!

If you have a fry's near you that's awesome. Otherwise $6+ for shipping... :(

I wonder how that works though. If it has MSRP of $59.99 then that means Activision must want a bigger piece of the pie. But if normally volume costs are $40, maybe it's only $45 or $46. I dunno, I don't care.

The good thing is that customers have ways to buy the games at closer to the $50 normal retail price.

Kinda sorta. You still spend $60 and get $20 to spend later. Personally I never shop at Amazon but if you do, then it's a good deal. Wal-mart has or had the same thing didn't they?
