I play Bad Company 2 online and I'm okay at it. Just tried Modern Warfare 2 online using my brother's Steam account and it seems to be much harder. Maybe it's the different play style or something.

The games are pretty different. I myself have never been 'good' at multiplayer FPS, no matter what it comes to. However whenever I think of FPS, CoD comes to mind because that's the one I've played for so long. I did have BF, and it seemed as if I could get better at it, it would be much more fun. I like all the vehicles and whatnot!

2 different games. battlefield is more team based and cod is run and gun.
if i were you i would start off in free for all as its anything that moves shoot it game so you can get used to the controls and maps.
then move on once you get used to it and join deathmatch, capture the flag etc.

The play style between the two games are very different. Like MrDJ said, FFA is a good place to start. I'd also recommend playing a defensive style on domination. It's a good way to learn the maps.

Also, MW2's been out for years now, and MW3 came out last month. The only people still playing MW2 have mostly been at it for a long time.

From an ex-CAL-I CoD player here are a couple tips:
    • Learn the map. Look for viewpoints that allow you to see far distances down the map, while remaining hidden
    • Check every corner. This requires your mouse to be constantly moving
    • Learn to dodge and manuever. Crouching, strafing, and sprinting
    • Stay relaxed. Don't tense up
    • Start with CTF / DOM... the lower respawn times makes these game types a little less frustrating
    • Disable mouse acceleration under Windows mouse options so that muscle memory actually makes a difference. The amount you move the mouse will register exactly the same each time, despite what speed you move it at
Those tips have always started me in a better place in each game since my childhood infatuation with CoD1 and UO.
