Modern Warfare 2 should I get for PC? I have on PS3

Well I splurged and bought Modern Warfare 2 for the PS3. Its awesome but Im still ok with the control.

As for PC I know most of you disapprove of it. But I just need to use Keyboard and Mouse. I dont know if I will ever get used to the console controls for a FPS.

I have a decent laptop so Im not sure if it will run it well, specs below:

Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53GHz
4GB DDR2 - 800mHz
ATI HD 3650 1GB RAM

Will it run decent? Im, looking at least 50FPS average. Is the engine requirements higher than the first MW or are they similar.

Anyone with the same specs run this game well? Thanks

 

dont worry, its an ugly game with cod2 graphics, you'll run it smooth im sure. I just disabled "shadows" and it runs fine.

 

Yes the 3650 runs it just fine. I would personally keep playing it on the PS3 and not waste more money but then again I prefer console FPS to PC cause I like the controllers. I'm currently playing my dad's PC copy and I hate it...waiting for my 360 copy to get here.

 

modern warfare 2 runs in 1024x600 on the consoles at ~60 fps (i don't how much it drops with heavy onscreen action)

modern warfare 2 should run at least as well as that or better on your laptop.

 

How can you possibly like playing FPS games on controllers more than with a good ol keyboard and mouse? :|

 

Because I grew up on consoles, not on PCs. I can't keep up with all these PC kids that have been playing for years, they're way too good for me.

 

Dont get it again for pc. Its the same experience and do not support their cause on pc.

Only if the games support it like Unreal. The only product I know of that lets you use a Kb & mouse is the XCM Rateup adapter. An alternative is the Fragnstein or FragFX that have a mouse.

 

Why not buy a mouse and keyboard add on for the ps3? ._.

 

I've got the FragFX controller, which works fine on PS3 but feels a bit cheap. It helps a little coming from PC but console games have little auto-aim things natively in a lot of them to help the majority of their gamers being controller users. Currently nothing worth getting on PC>PS3 for unless you're desperate to game on a laptop or you want to pimp up the resolution a little, but I don't think it's worth buying the same game twice for a few extra pixels...

 

Since you have it for PS3 , no point buying it for PC... same game literally...

 

Is that a serious statement? I cranked it all the way up and it's probably got some of the most beautiful graphics I've ever seen in a video game (aside from Crysis, yet if I run Crysis at the same FPS on my PC, it looks like compared to MW2, so there's something to be said there )

Also, to the OP, I agree with you, I'd much rather use a controller over mouse and keyboard (mouse is awesome, but keyboard sucks )

call of duty mw2 is a very pretty game. especially the animations and particle effects.

i thought CoD4 had better graphics overall than crysis, when you factor in animation and design part of graphics. Crysis's graphics are very technical in their look and feel, although its clear there is a lot going on in that engine.

And CoD4-2 has pretty solidly upgraded graphics compared to CoD4.

 

my opinion.. i have it on 360 and also got it in PC b/c I like keyboard/mouse.. I play the 360 for campaign and did some spec ops with some Live buddies, but for MP I need keyboard mouse to stay competitive..hehe, and if you have no problems with the console one, then the PC version won't be a big deal...

My specs are in my sig. Similar enough I guess I run at 1360x768 all options off except bullet holes/ragdoll and get 91FPS which is the max the game gives me in MP.

I would run at native 1920x1080 but I get stutters which interrupts my mp, but that runs around 40-50FPS but there's drops at times. Other than that I like playing at near 16:9 ratio so any other resolution gives bars which I do not prefer =)

Why does my graphics on my PC looks so much better than my 1080P PS3? PS3 looks like the colors are washed. And BTW, my PC isnt that great of specs being a laptop.

Oddly enough I am able to max out everything at 1400x900 resolution minus shadows. Runs like a knife through butter. No choppiness or lag. Does this game run smoother than MW1? I could never max the graphics out on MW1 with out the computer chugging like the choo choo train that could.

Overall Im impressed how much more of an eye candy it is over my PS3 espcially that my PS3 rapes my PC specs. MW2 rocks except that it should have D-servers.

 

the reason it looks much better on your PC b/c like on the first page, the PS3/360 games are in 600P resolution, just upscaled to fit your tv screen. Your PC is playing in real 1400x900. Anyway I find myself playing more on the PC than on my 360.. will prob resell it anyway.

 

You also have to consider, that you are probably playing with your ps3 on a huge flat screen. However, 600p is maybe enough for netbooks, contrary to the probably something like 15" on your notebook, on which 1440x900 is an appropriate resolution.

Then you also need to consider, that you get 60fps on the ps3, whereas on the pc you set your settings for 30fps probably.

Also on the ps3 version 2xAA is turned on, do you on the pc?



off-topic rant:
IW set the PS3 options extremely irrational. Consoles are played on huge tvs, so resolution is extremely important. If they wanted 60fps so bad, they could have at least dropped the AA and set the resolution to 720p, since AA is no good at 600p anyway, either way it looks horrible and costs performance.

Then not everybody needs 60fps, I am fine with 30fps. I believe that 1080p would be possible @ 30fps with not a lot of graphical features more turned off, then it is now.

and derhh consoles suck...graphically, PC FTW. and srsly you dont know how much i loved my consoles....till i got my gaming laptop. but even tho the GTAIV expansion suck graphically, they are still really fun and GTA IS my fav. game of all time.

btw, i thought AA and consoles was like a hobo and soap, they just dont go together?
