Modern Warfare 2, $50 preorder +$10 gift card at Wal-Mart (for those boycotting the PC ver. for $60 price tag)

Wal-Mart, Modern Warfare 2 PC ver. (search walmart.com) $50 free shipping, plus tax in most states, but you get $10 gift card. I posted this because like a few of you I was on the boycott Actavision band wagon for the ridiculous $60 PC price bump with lack of extras. Funny thing is, I bought COD4MW from Wal-Mart online for $40 as well when the game was released. Irony that I buy my PC games from Wal-Mart rather then Game Stop.

*EDIT: Guess the PC Collector's Edition is no more, sorry. Gone already by the time I posted this.

Walmart is much more deserving of boycott than a $60 pricetag on a game.

I'm more angry at the fact that they shafted the gamer base (PC) who made this franchise popular rather than the price.

    dont take everything so personal.
theyre a company trying to make money.
the COD MW games have been great quality...
i dont see a real reason to complain.
they dont owe any of us anything.

Pretty much when there is a "standard" price point for games on the pc and if someone goes above it us pc gamers become angry. Think about it this way, yes MC2 is going to be a great game, but if they can get away with charging us $60 for that game what is stopping activision from doing it to their other games? Or what if it becomes a trend and other publishers realized they can charge pc gamers more than console and they too start raising their prices. Talking about trying to stop piracy in pc gaming...

Plus, I hate wal mart so I think ima wait till Steam does a discount or the price drops to $40 or something.

If we dont buy MW2 because of it's steep price, its not going to send them a message to lower the price, it's going to tell them to stop making the PC versions all together. We can't risk that, the PC version for MW2 was already an after thought as it is.

i completely disagree. its not like we arent going to buy it, just not at 60 bucks, its a rip off since we dont get the lower hardware prices the console owners get. activision is just making an extra profit off of it.

Talk about kicking a beehive, we knew prices would go up eventually and its not that far of a logical leap that it happened with such a popular game. There will always be vendors running specials and there will always be vendors selling below MSRP. Plus in these trying times, its also a lot more, sorry to say, financially responsible to concentrate on a marked that has shown to be more stable and bring in more revenue through means of downloadable content such as xbox 360 and LIVE.

Actually I didnt see it that way at all due to digital distribution becoming popular and thought prices would drop down. The thing is that activision knows this game is going to sell like crazy thats why they know they can raise the price and make large profits from it. Yea its all business and I don't think activision is not making money nowadays...

I remember one of the Infinity Ward guys saying something like 70% of the people playing COD4 online had illegal copies of the game so they see less and less incentive every day to port their games over to the PC. Probably a good idea to buy if that's the case.

I hate that excuse. If they know they're pirated then why don't the boot them out of the games?

Also, XBOX 360 is just as pirated as PC's if not more.

Just personal preference, don't want to get into political discussions here. Let's just say they have corrupt business practices, lead the brigade on slave labor foreign imports, and their stores quickly become a cluttered mess...

    That's BS, it's probably closer to 30%, not 70%!

@htwingnut: So what? Just buy it online, you get MW2 for like $30 after their low sale price and $10 e-gift card.

I wonder what the system requirements will be for this? Since this runs on the 360 like the first one I'm hoping it will run as well, or almost as well, on my PC as the first one.

How did the last one play? MW2 is pretty much the same engine just some upgrades to smooth out the textures. But then again so was WaW and that was a bit more intense then CoD4 on hardware.

Go on Steam (what you would get anyways, digital Steam download), its cheap, $20 or for $40 you get COD, COD:UO and COD2. There is your price difference from the regular to the collector's edition.
