Intel and Crytek ran a contest a while back that sought to find the best SP maps created by members and fans of Crysis. Today, the top 10 rated maps are available for download in 1 file. If you liked Crysis, check these maps out. Good stuff. Also, give credit where it's due in the Crymod community.

Download is at the bottom link: http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=2453&lim=0

Final results and prizes awarded: http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=32523

    Info about the contest: http://icmc.crymod.com/index.php

I'm downloading now, will report back as I haven't played these yet. :)

To run these: enter a Crysis game and open the console (~). Type con_restricted 0 then type map MAPNAME. Hit enter and the level will load.

**** you! These look great and I am in the middle of Far Cry, as Crysis Warhead put me in the mood. Now what do I do, finish Far Cry again and delay playing these very cool maps, or toss it aside? LOL

    Thanks mate ;)

You better maximize your time and just finish everything :D

There's actually a desert themed map called Ghadir. It might be able to tide you over until Far Cry 2 hits. There are a few screens here: http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=1842&lim=0

Ok I tried out some of the maps. Ghadir as I said is desert themed. Action comes in spurts but it's a nice trip through a different environment. It took me about an hour to complete.

Induction is also a short map, took me about 50 minutes to complete. It has some pretty cool cutscenes (taxing though), and changes areas between forest/ice/buildings. Only aliens to fight. I had some bugs on this map with 'F' function button not working on reloads occasionally.

I am currently working on Vulcano. I would say it's probably the coolest so far, you have a whole good sized island to work with. A lot of action with multiple pathways and the chance to blaze in or sneak around. Definitely most like Crysis so far. I came upon a sub and realized you could enter it from the mini-sub entrance underneath. I'm about an hour in, and I would say I'm maybe 25-33% done so it's also quite a bit longer. Check it out.

I will I will! I decided to stick to Far Cry till the end. I am at the part where you blow up the radio towers on some small islands. I think I only have 6 levels till the end! LOL :)

How easy it is, for someone with no programming skills, to create SP maps for Crysis?

Is it easier or more versatile than the FEAR SDK?

I want to create FPS SP maps... but I haven't decided for which game to make them...

I'm no map maker but from what I have read the sandbox editor from Crytek is pretty easy to get started with. I have opned it up and checked it out, that's about it. Check it out here.

Well, I have time to put into it... what I actually want is to make an exact replica of the place I work in (a Biotech Institute: large hallways, lots of labs with machines, glassware & bottles, small rooms everywhere).

I always thought it would be a good scenario for some heavy gunfight... i don't know yet if I should do it for FEAR or for other game...

the spooky effects of FEAR would look great on it... if it's possible to add them.

The "spooky" effects can be had with any modding tools. Blood on walls, fickering lights, dark rooms, creepy music etc... are all just assets you add or elements you modify within the software.

I would like to make a map of my work too. We have a large factory and warehouse here. I was thinking it'd be cool to have the management team running around as I hunt them down - lol. :)

Let me know if you start doing something... I am ordering my laptop this week, and I will start making maps as soon as I get it, but I don't know for which game to make them yet...

Over the weekend, I finished Vulcano and Airfield. Vulcano was a good map throughout and took me about 1.5 hours to finish. The only weakness of the map was enemy AI. Not too many patrol routes, basically they just stand around. Only a few NK nanosuits as well.

Airfield was the best so far IMO. It has a lot of objectives, took me around 4 hours to finish, and has a good variety of numerous enemies. Also set on large island; several scripted events help move the story. More action-oriented.

i think it would be goot to make a map set in a city instead of jungle / island areas, soemthing like New York and have like a ship that crashed frezzing most of the city and have small alien things climbing all of the building i would love to make something like that, i just dont have the skills YET

I started Assassins Job 2. Just to note, there seems to be a problem with Vista and this particular map. To fix, just run the map in XP compatibility mode (under the .exe properties).

Also, I was reading about the map Canyon Base. It seems you have to run it in DX9 or the map hangs on loading.

There is a custom map set in a medieval city. There are no objectives or enemies, but it is really interesting to see what can be done with the engine. It is also on the crymod forum, map name is Niveus. Link http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=36684

I'd really like a map where I fight humans but not Koreans, I am absolutely sick and tired of fighting them! I'm tired of the same character models, the taunts, etc. :)
