"Amid all the hype for Diablo 3, you may have missed hearing about the StarCraft II developer panel helmed by Blizzard's Rob Pardo at this weekend's Worldwide Invitational in Paris. Joystiq was there to catch all the details on the latest build of the game. See what team Blizzard had to say about the newfound power of the Zerg Queen, the upgraded Protoss Mothership and the reason behind de-emphasizing heroic classes. All this after the jump."

Since the vid got ignored in the other SC2 thread, I think I'll put it in here as well. It fits this one better anyway because it's a video about gameplay and the game in general.

Here's a link to the Starcraft 2 panel at BWWI: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9dqRrc1UE8

Yeah that video was good for the first half.

Zerg looks like it could be trouble in the hands of a good player that is well organized.

Im a Protoss person myself, but I did like to use the other races on occasion to keep it mixed up and new.

Thanks for the link. The video clears up release date issues. No SCII this year for sure then sadly enough. If they are only 1/3rd way through the campaign thats alot of work there. Not to mention they are still changing the powers and roles of the existing units and swapping them out.

Screw Blizzard, takes them a million years to release this game, and it`ll be outdated by the time it gets out.Pfaaa.

Thats the reason there games are good, they dont rush out piles of crap that are poorly optimized and full of bugs and expect people that bought the game to be beta testers (hellgate london, crysis, ect are a few I can think of)

Id rather wait for a good game then get a bad one early.

Agreed. I'd wait years for a well-made game that is "outdated" technology wise, than deal with the poorly-design user-forced game testing. Admittedly, Blizzard does take a hell of a long time (I mean, didn't the original Starcraft come out in late 98'? Or was it early 99'? Regardless, it's been a LONG time). Nothing should take 10 years, ha-ha, they should of started earlier. Now, if only Squaresoft would hurry up and get working on a proper FF7 sequel, ha-ha.

if they started working on SC 2 right after its first release then we wouldn't have seen WC 3 or maybe even Diablo 2 for a while. i don't think they use "outdated" graphics because they work on it so long. i think they purposely use scalable and budget computer friendly design to market their product to almost anyone who owns a PC.

if they couldn't come up w/ the technology themselves (which i highly doubt) they would've licensed existing engine (like cryengine) to make their game graphics intensive if that's what they really wanted to do.

If they din spend so much time on WoW.. we would already be playin SC2 right now instead of having this discussion.

I wouldn't worry too much about the specs. I believe it was during the video that I posted where a Blizzard employee mentioned how making the games accessible to macs is keeping the requirements down. Hence, I'm guessing a Macbook should be able to at least run the game.

I don't mind WoW. It's giving them the cash to finance SC2. I'm sure SC2 will run on something with integrated graphics at the least (but look and run like crap).

Exactly. There is no way Blizzard can take their time with safety and create high quality games like StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3 without having good finances. WoW enables them to do that. They'll always need to have some kind of game with montly fee in the future to ensure their existance and size as company.
