Post the most insane mod you've installed for a game.

For me it's FCOM for Oblivion. I have not installed it yet.
devnull.devakm - FCOM Cheat SheetFirst-Time User Install Guide
    - Reading the install instructions for it, already know this will be my most insane mod install.
    - Installing specifically
    - Then use Wyre Bash.
    - Then use BOSS so it loads the mods in specific order.

    Qarl's Texture Pack (2GB...)

Good grief, I hope it works.
    - I feel like the download size for all the mods is equal to most games.

I can't access the TES mod site but the paladin and wizard tower mod for Oblivion were amazing.

The texture packs for RE4 gave the game a ridiculous improvement.

Ultima 5: Lazarus and The Ultima 6 Project for Dungeon Siege, as well as The Nameless Mod for Deus Ex are the most impressive total conversion mods I've played. For adding pure fun to a game without a massive overhaul, Kung Fu 3.0 for Max Payne is probably the best I've played.

Wow, that does look really great.

I'll be doing either the OOO or FCOM + some texture overhaul for Oblivion.

I cant get that one to work for me. Everything is either too bright (or turns white when looking in certain directions) or I'm getting 20 FPS doing nothing. This is on the HTPC in my sig, which shouldn't be having problems considering it ran Crysis 2 excellently (yes I played SP with a controller :p)

    ICEnhancer Mod for GTA IV.

It is a GPU hog that's fore sure, but you should get more than 20fps, especially if you've unlocked to a 6970, I get 60 fps with my 560 Ti's in SLI maxed out 1080p

    Maybe some tweaking needs doing.

Is there a way to change settings beyond the normal graphics options in the game?

So far the texture overhaul and FCOM for Oblivion is about 4GB.

I'm working on installing the overhauls now, I just hope it all works.

    Install unofficial mods patch
    Install unofficial supplmental patch
    Install unofficial Isle patch
    Install OOO
    Install OOO patch
    Install Wyre Bash
    Install Boss
    Activate everything in Wyre Bash
    Run BOSS
    Install Fran 4.5 Overhaul
    Install OMM
Create OMOD for MMM in OMM, compression taking forever
    Run the installer for MMM
    Run Wyre Bash again.
    Run BOSS again.
    Install Warcry and Patch
    Run Wyre Bash again.
    Run BOSS again.
    Create OMOD for FCOM
    Install FCOM
    Run Wyre Bash again
    Run BOSS again.

So far I'm on the step to compress MMM... taking forever.

It will suck after doing all this, to run the game and find that it doesn't wok

Two mods have kept me playing Battlefield 2 till now. The biggest and most successful BF2 mod is Project Reality which is a full out modification with lots of new vehicles, weapons, additional armies, and a completely new "realistic" gameplay. The other mod to look at is Forgotten Hope 2 which is essentially a WWII modification that introduces completely new setting/content and with superior graphics improvements. What's amazing is that both games have pushed the aging BF2 engine to its limits to provide new game changes, graphics and a lot more (128 player servers).

I would say most most insane mods are currently Total War Medieval 2: The Third Age and Westeros: Total War. Both totally transform the original game into either Tolkien's or George R.R. Martin's Fantasy worlds and both so far are great!
