What is the game that has robbed you of most of your time over the years? (not including online play) I'm now 26 so I don't get a great deal of time for games anymore but am enjoying Fallout 3 and Empire Total at the moment in the time I do have.

As for the games that I spent most time on it has to be close but Ultima 7:The Black Gate wins, it was just so expansive - the 1st game I recall to give you full freedom to move outside the plot. Ultimately I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing because I never completed the game - always getting sidetracked finding new ways to commit crimes without getting caught.

2nd for me is l'emperor which isn't quite in the same field for expansiveness but it was one of those games where you could improve your performance everytime you started a new campaign or set yourself tangetial goals to the main plot. My online game was counterstrike, I poured tonnes of time into this game in online play and LAN competitions. Won a bit of money too but mainly money spent - immensely fun & satisfying though.

Interested to hear on what games other people's time was spent....

I'm 17, but the game for me has to be Starcraft: Broodwar. I've played that easily 750+ hours between online and re-playing campaign.

Even though I don't have much time to game anymore, Battlefield 2/Project Reality has been the longest game I've ever played. After that it would be Counter Strike Source, way back in the good old days and Call of Duty 4 which I got pretty sick of after finishing all the ranks.

    Probably a toss up b/w:

Starcraft (my uni grades could have been better!)
Civ III (just. one. more. turn.)
    Alpha Centauri (still play it)

Offline? I guess FF7 lol, been a while...I'd guess I put at least 20 days into that. The clock I think stopped at 99 hours, and I did more than 1 run through the story, plus completed the whole game. It's not uncommon for me to put a few days of gameplay into one game. Fallout got well over 80 hours before I got bored, but I'll come back to it on the new laptop. I know CoD WaW is online, but I have close to 7 days logged on that. I mean, these aren't even old games and I've played them that much. Still have time to work 40 hours a week too, hah.

haha, I think of myself of a gamer...but then I look at you guys and I have to seriously reconsider that title I give myself. I could never really get into one single game to play for countless hours and hours.

However, I have been playing Counterstrike Source on and off for maybe 4 years now. And I've probably sunk a lot of hours into the couple of MMOs I used to play, City of Heroes and Star Wars Galaxies... Then, you've got Rome Total War and Medieval Total War 2. I'm into playing TF2 now just for fun...

I'm 39. Online, since 1996 I was a regular for almost ten years in a squadron in Warbirds (MMO WWII Flight Sim).

Offline, I'd say Microsoft Flight Simulator. I'm a user since it was still Sublogic's.

One version only? hmmm... Civ II. Yes, it is 4:30 in the morning, I've been playing 15 hours straight, and my eyes are bleeding. But one-more-turn....

Online I have an embarrassing amount of days logged in WoW.

with me it should be the whole pokemon series since the blue/red one until the newest platinum
Otherwise, Dynasty Warriors series on the PS2, I've opened all the characters, all items and all weapons in all games (included the xtreme legends also)
On lan with my friends = Counter strike

Hmm.. for me the games that took up my time:

Age: 13-15 - Pokemon series (Waiting for the new one to come out for DS), Starcraft series, and random other games

Age: 15-18 - Kalonline (Still play sometimes) and random other MMO's (Never did play WoW)

    Age: 18-21 - Xbox 360 (Mostly Forza 2 & Halo Series), ect.

    Rough estimates anyway..

Mostly I play Forza 2 atm.

Morrowwind definitely, I played that nearly exclusively for a year. Oblivion was going about the same, been playing for a long time now, still haven't finished it. Recently has to be S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, played it 9 times so far, most recent game has been ongoing for at least half a year. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is always the first game I install after a new OS install (every four months). On line I play a lot of Battlefield, mostly 2142, now mostly Left 4 Dead.

Single player games? I've beat STALKER SOC 8 times, played it for over 400 hours.

As for multiplayer, has to be CS:S, played it from 2005 to 2007, made over 100 maps for it, ran numerous clans, and probably played it over 2000 hours.

But I really don't know what it is about STALKER, that game just never gets boring, I could sit there.. beat the whole game in one day, then just restart from the beginning in the same day, and it's still not boring.

I bought Stalker SOC for $5 when they had that sale i played it one day and quit i thought it was kinda weird that it didn't support gamepad. Then again it wasn't on the consoles so that may have something to do with it. I also had got Fallout 3 the next week so maybe ill start playing it again soon :D

Anyway, for me its so hard to say but randomly in my brain im going to go with super smash Bros Melee Clocked over 300 hours on that thing. :D

Im 33 and i dont think ill stop gaming, dont have the time i once had, pre pc ff7 definatly ate away my time, then diablo2 and baldarsgate, i played through it 3 times using different characters completing most quests. Baldarsgate2 got a bit of time but not as much as the 1st.
Recently, CoH, oblivion, and fallout3 have all managed to take my spare time.

For me, it would be TIE Fighter. I would just never quit. Following that, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds really sucked the life out of me.

In more recent (read: 3D) times, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I & II; Ibeat the first at least five times, and the second second two or three times; each game took 25-30 hours.

Of course none of these games work on Vista so I don't play them anymore . . .

I'm _*gasp*_ 36. If you're talking now or in the past?

Past (over five years ago), it was definitely Longbow 2, Descent 2, Falcon 4, Starcraft, Quake 3 Arena, Age of Empires 2/3.

Recent past, Half-Life 2 & episodes, Battlefield 2, Falcon 4, Oblivion, C&C Generals / Zero Hour. Nothing recent lately has kept my interest for too long.

Chaz, there is ALWAYS a way. Don't let Microsoft defeat you!

    Try here:

    http://www.old-republic.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=68&func=fileinfo&id=143

Or since KOTOR 1 and 2 are old enough, I'm sure you could Virtual PC and play. Should get decent performance. And of course there's always dual boot! I hate to say it, but just for the tons of backwards compatibility games, XP will be around for some time...

quake, starcraft, and Simcity 4 has chewed up the bulk of my computer gaming life.

Recently, it has been Left 4 Dead. This is probably the most addictive team game out. More so than TF2 IMO. It is far more team oriented.

I've never replayed any game more than I did the original System Shock. More recently, I've played through Mass Effect probably six or seven times, which is very rare in these days.

Multiplayer? Dawn Of War, soon to be Dawn Of War II.

It is a shame that Vista has compatibility issues with older software but its also to be expected. Will Windows 7 have better compatibility with older software and games?
