I thought we were only talking PC games at first. Wow...hmmm Halo..yeah I've definitely spent a very significant chunk of my life, busting skulls in Halo: CE.

Also, WoW...I quit playing so it kind of got left out in my brain, but I've easily spent about four-five months of time in that clown car.

    Morrowind, no contest.

I cringe to think of the amount of time I spent on that thing...

Master of Orion and Heroes of Might and Magic 2...

A friend and I wore Duke Nukem 3D out...I have never finished all the single player episodes, but we spent hours upon hours playing on a serial (null-modem) connection...our wives went out of town one weekend (probably to spend quality time with more manly men), and we played for almost 24 hours straight...

When I was in the Navy, one of the squadrons had a ready room on the carrier decked out with about a dozen PCs on a local net...it was ridiculous how much time I spent in there playing Unreal Tournament with the squadron folks...and after the Navy, UT was still the game of choice when my brothers-in-law and I got together every holiday until Half-Life 2 Deathmatch came out...

i hope that they are not building their fighting skills with pc games , because war is another thing in the real world :p
however call of duty 2 network is one of the best , playing old games is not really something bad , some games cannot be stopped with time
civ III , mafia , half life , serious sam , duke nukem , return to castle wolfenstein , colin mcrae 2 , medal of honor allied assault , red alert 2 , age of empires 3 , tomb raider 2
i still enjoy these games like it's the first time i play them :$

    Single Game:
    Civilisation 3

    Series:
    Civ 1-4

That game is responsible for stealing months and months of my life. There was a time i used to seriously wonder whether my obsession with it was so dangerous i needed de-addiction help. Later when i started reading game related forums i was surprised at how everyone seemed to have that one more turn problem with it. Just what is so addicting with this game ? Almost any other game i can pause/save/exit any time as i'm not a hard core gamer at all but this game made me ignore food, sleep, family, friends, school (yes, i've pretended to be ill, when i was in school, so i could sit at home alone and play this game). What bugs me though is that i've still never been able to beat it at the higher difficulty levels....man i really do suck at games if i can't even beat my fav game at emperor even after years of attempts....

    > What is the game that has robbed you of most of your time over the years?

I've been playing Counter Strike/Half Life for what seems like 10 years. I played it yesterday. :(

I'm about to play it now... :(

I've also wasted a stupidly large amount of time playing the Bejeweled (Classic and Twist) and Peggle (Deluxe, Extreme, and Night) series of games.

i spent time on civ 3 more than internet , way moreeeeeee
it's so addictive because of the ability to bargain and talk to other civilizations despite the fact they are AIs , it was just a perfect game , the only game i couldn't find anything wrong with
and the amazing is that even after years and years u can still discover new things u didn't knew before ...... all this in just one CD
while now most of the games come with 2 DVDs , that's like almost 20 CDs and they cant reach half of civ 3 greatness
and about the difficulty , i didn't even try to beat it at the hardest , i try moderate difficulty with a HUGE map and max number of rivals
and then u can start ur deplomacy , make alliances and then betray them as much as you want :D
    amazing game , i will re-install it

enemy territory, i still dream of playing that game still. But the facist gamer severs were closed because of its 'over' enthusiastic gamers. I loved getting on and seeing all the regulars and chatting and owning the server as rambo medic, best days of my gaming.

Another civ addict here... :) got started w/ Civ II, and been playing all the iterations ever since. Still my favorite, and one that is always on my computer. Without doubnt the series I've spent the most time with (though MOO2 would be close if you just count a single game, I'm not sure it counts - it's kinda Civ in space anyway...)

    Oh, and:
...I understand - for us Air Force guys, we'd go in late nights after the schedule was posted and the planners were done planning the next days sorties, and grab all the computers in the ops building to play LAN games. I remember Quake was a big favorite, though I never was any good at it...

Still, if you've got to be in the desert, it made passing the time a little more fun... :)

    Online: Diablo 2 or WoW

Offline: Id have to say its a tie between Blizzard RTS games (starcraft and warcraft) and Age of empires anything.

I think I might lean more towards Blizzard RTS because they came out when I was in high school and they were immensely popular for LAN games when we were done programming. One of the great perks for taking Computer science type classes at my high school (granted I graduated in 2001) is that we got 1 hour out of 1.5 hours of class to do homework (coding) or anything we wanted that was computer related. So basically me and my classmates would essentially have a quick lan party every other day. :)

mmo: Star Wars Galaxies: PVP Force Ranked Dark Jedi on Lowca-- Every single day from mid 2003-2005 Pre NGE. Unlocked on 5th profession in Nov 03I hated the CU and NGE. Left after beta testing the NGE.

Jedi Knight -Dark Forces 2. Played this so much that I still dream sometimes about shooting people with the missle launcher which was a lot like the one in the movie hudson hawk. Beat the single player game like 20 times.

Three games have taken away most of my time:
GTA San Andreas: nearly 1500 hrs, which includes completing 100% 6 times.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion:nearly 300 hrs, all quests completed thrice.

    GTA Vice City: 300 hrs.

Either Infantry online, or the call of duty series.

I am easily at 3k hours on all the call of duties, and according to the account info from when I quit I was a bit over 5k hours in Infantry Online. :p

I rarely, if ever, uninstall a game...I just buy another external drive...

The only game that was ever a favorite of mine that I don't have installed is Crimson Skies...the newer nVidia drivers broke compatibility with the game, and I refuse to play the game in software mode...I'm one that always preaches gameplay over visuals...but once you've seen the hardware accelerated 3D images, it's tough to stomach the pixelicious software images...
