A good motorcycle game would be nice to race, but the biggest flaw I ran into any motorcycle game I've tried is that they use keyboard control! It totally sucks to drive a car racing game by keyboard too, so why can't they just be creative and let motorcycle games be controlled by a STEERING WHEEL! My cheap $35 Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience wheel would be good enough!

So now I've never bought a motorcycle game ever. I once was tempted to pay $15 for SBK 2011, but I torrented it to test it for controls first. It totally sucked with keyboard control only! So now I never play it. Recently a motorcycle game came on Steam; it's good they had a demo to test but it was keyboard control only too! So I never bought it!

I don't think any manufacturer would make a motorcycle handlebar video game controller, so they should settle for steering wheel control for motorcycle games. Gee, some people are so intelligent enough to make a video game but then they do very dumb things with control interfaces. If you know of a motorcycle video game controlled by a steering wheel, please mention it!

What stops you from assigning your wheel axis to steering?

Ok, I made a mistake with Superbike 2011. It has an option to change settings with a joypad, but I tried inputs using my steering wheel, and then in the game the steering wheel worked!

I tested the MotoGP 13 Demo on Steam and it always crashes on the option to change the controller to a Wheel. But the demo is V1.0 and the real game is maybe at V1.3. It's currently 60% off on Steam Sale.

I've had fun in the past playing MotoGP with a 360 controller... thought it worked great. I'd much rather use the sticks than a wheel... how else are you going to control the rider leaning forward and back when accelerating or braking? Rider physics play a huge part of motorcycle control. Also, I like having independent control of front and rear brakes.

I do agree however that keyboard is not ideal. Good luck, keep us posted how you like the game, I haven't played 13 yet!

There are actually motorcycle handlebar controllers out there, but I have only found 2 made by Yamaha:

Newer Version - Amazon.com: Gemini Yamaha Motorsport Controller: Video Games

Older Version - Motorcycle Handlebar Controller FOR Xbox PS2 Psone Gamecube | eBay

However, these controllers were designed to work for consoles, not pc - but if it has a usb plug then with some tinkering it should work, if not you need one of those "console to pc" controller converters. Also, since it's not a pc controller, games might not recognize it as an input device, but there is a program called "X360ce" that makes your controller emulate an Xbox 360 controller - and that way all the newer games will recognize it.

But ya, I was really tempted to buy some motorcycle games for pc, but I really hate playing racers with a controller or keyboard... unless it's something like Mario Kart, and steering a motorcycle with my wheel would feel to awkward.

I thought those game are for places that have arcade device and let you get on a realistic bike to play.

Don't think it is any fun using a keyboard. Keyboard for 4 wheel is awkward enough.

Old style joysticks for flight sims are best for Motorbike games.

I can't think of too many games that restrict you solely to the keyboard.

What a home-made version of this is to car games, could be done with internals from a mechanized bull for motorcycles...? I'd want one :D
