I just installed stalker on my laptop and yes the fps is not very good, but it would be playable if it was not for the delay. Like when i turn around with my mouse the character start to turn a half a second after i use my mouse and when i run forward there is a small delay there too. Like there is a delay on everything. The only place i seen this before was in WOW but there u could hook off or on something in the option menu that fixed it. Its like its lagging in an offline game. How can i fix this?

It seems that your system is not very powerfull stalker although quite old is still demanding try lowering the settings a bit more also patch it to the latest patch

reduce lighting settings. That usually causes issues.

Stuttering is usually caused by a graphics card bottleneck, and delay like you're experiencing is usually the CPU (in my experience anyway). Try turning down any effects that load the CPU to see if that helps, but I'm not sure it will help. That CPU is very slow..

I have a 5870, 6 gigs, a 860 i7. I get plenty of FPS, and I get a mouse lag SO HORRBILE that I had to uninstall it. I get this mouse lag because of vsync, when it is turned off, no lag, but there is no way i am playing with all the tearing.

    So you are not alone.

Like with other games, some people have gotten around this by turning off vsync in game, and turning it on in the ATI or nVidia control panel. Worked with Dead Space.

dang i was getting ready to mention dead space also lol but yeah thats usually always a side effect of using vsync (one of the few reasons i dont like vsync)
i dunno if youll be able to play it with the weak of a gpu but you could also try getting a program called gamebooster that might give yah a few more fps.

P8700 2,53 Ghz Radeon 4650 512GDDR3 4 GB ram 320 7200 rpm HD Wil have it this week i hope.

I already use game booster it worked wonders in Heroes of Newerth, went from all low to some medium and some high settings. Salker have playable fps all low but the mouse delay makes it unplayable after all i cant even aim right

If programmed right, vsync is a great thing. It doesn't draw to the monitor unless it is at the refresh rate. 120fps at 60Hz means the computer is throwing away every other frame that it's drawing. If properly designed, the game could use all of those cycles for stuff like better physics or AI or something. The problem comes when it's badly done... don't hate on vsync because you've had bad experiences. It really is a brilliant idea.

And that is a great idea as well. Force vsync to add additonal processes. Now that would be a fun programming task, but probably more in a controller chip than anything else to distribute that load.

im not hating on vsync i just dont like it. every computer ive owned has always lost performance when i enable vsync i dont know why. (i am aware how vsync works so its not the limit) on some games i would enable it and my fps would drop to around 30 to 45 fps but with it off it would be constant over 80 fps. strange i know but i would rather have a little screen tear then that big of a performance drop i mean even AA doesnt drop it that much lol.

with that said on a few select games i leave it on because it does make a difference with how smooth the gameplay looks without side effects. gfor games like crysis its a godsend even if it does introduce a little lag (not vsyncs fault but low fps issue) lol one setting i do hate on is ambient occlusion. i really like how it can change how a game looks graphically but with the performance hit it costs its usually not worth it in my opinion lol
