I been reading some about it lately, but looking for more opinions, experiences and knowledge about this.
So im guessing a mouse can predict you moving in line pattern and corrects it so its more straight.
Upon reading more...
I kinda want to turn it off, i would like to miss a shot because i didnt aim correctly or make the shot cause the mouse didnt compensante incorrectly cause it though it was a line. Anyone know if it can be turn off on the MX518? or should i just look for another mouse?

I'd hope there was some way to disable it.
I've seen this implemented in software for a while now, but not in the hardware. -
This is usually a feature provided with Accessibility or laptop touchpads and needs to be explicitly enabled; in other words, you'd know if you had it on. Maybe you're thinking of mouse-smoothing or "Enhanced pointer precision" which is another beast in its own right (and most gamers prefer it off).

I'm almost certain this is something that has to be turned on in software like what @nthony said.
If it came included built-in in a "gaming" mouse like the MX518, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of it?
I've got a DeathAdder and there's no such thing as aiming assist built-in or in software. -
Thanks for the replies so far,
I seen the setpoint for the G500 and it has an option to disable this, while in the MX518 i dont see it unless its under another name.
Im not completly sure its all software based, there were comments that the Deathadder (the original) had it and you had to flash the firmware to get rid of it, while the Deathadder 3500 has it off by default, again not sure, its just what i read couple of hours ago. -
link me, please! I have the older deathadder and I do not recall experiencing anything like this.
I'll give paint a try when I get home. -
I did the following in paint.net just now.
I have the 1800dpi Deathadder. Firmware version I can't remember, I don't have the razer software installed either. The two axis (straight lines) I drew quickly, it isn't that hard to draw straight lines.
I actually find it harder doing it slowly as I have unsteady hands. As for the two curve lines and circle, I did both of those slowly. I have never ever experienced such issues with the deathadder, I have had it for 3 years and it has been through a couple of firmware updates, not once have I noticed such phenomenon.

Im really interested on the MX518 if there is a way to turn it off
. Else im gona have to buy some deathadders 3500 or Logitech G500.
-
For logitech it's all software (setpoint), my g500 has the option for it but it was/is set to OFF by default.
I had an mx518 before btw, and the g500 is pretty much a direct upgrade over it once you get used to the third thumb button (or just disable/remap it). -
Good thing the G9 doesn't have this crap.
-
Maybe not the G9, but my G9x has an "angle snapping" option in one of the Setpoint menus, it defaults to off though and I don't think I've ever bothered trying it out.
-
The G9x has it, but can be turn of via software. The G9 idk.
Yea the G500 has an option to disable it thru setpoint software, but the MX518 software si different and no place to disable this as with the G500.
Apparently there is no way to disable it in the MX518, No correction firmware update for MX518?
Some comments i found browsing,
So i guess gona buy some deathadders. I had one, and was really nice, just i though wasnt worth the upgrade over the 518 since both sensor were the same, and i kinda liked the dedicated thumb rest, but i like it, specially the rubber finish on top, the big wheel, and to some point the shape fitted a little better on my hand, apparently the deathadder can turn of this prediction/correction, so i guess gona buy some again. Or maybe a G500.
