Hey,
Well this is sort of hard to explain, but I am having weird mouse problems in games, before I go into detail I would like to point out a few things;
- System is in sig
- Mouse is Logitech V100, usb
- OS having problems, both XP and Vista, currently on XP
- Games which have this problem UT3, BF2, BF2142, FEAR, Timeshift, Bioshock, Medal of Honor, pretty much every game except rts's and Half Life series including Counter Strike.
- Do not have anything else plugged into the USB slots
- this video sort of captures what I am experiencing, Video Link
Now ill try to explain the problem as best as I can, what I am experiencing is not] "Mouse Lag" (in the sense that I have already moved my mouse to my desired position but the cursor in game has yet to get there) but rather a "Mouse Slowdown" of some sort.
What happens is in the above games the mouse movement is rather slow, not slow like it takes ages for me to move the mouse, but its like the mouse cursor is drunk and is experiencing the effect that happens in FEAR when you go into slowmode.
Another example can be that if you enable "show mouse trails" the trails give a feeling as if the mouse is moving quite slow, thats the feeling I have in game.
If anyone has the UT3 demo, you know how the mouse moves in the menu yea?, well thats the type of movement I have in game.
This problem has nothing to do with the in game settings, my friend who has an ati 9600 runs UT3 demo on ultra low at 800 x 600 and does not have this problem, albeit he does have this problem in the menu as most of you do. I however tried those settings on my laptop and still have that horrible mouse slowdown effect.
What is causing this, how can I sort this problem out its really getting on my nerves
-
This is weird, happens in some games (UT3 demo the most recent one) to me but i manage to get rid of them by lowering my resolution.
With 2gb of ram, 7200rpm HD and a nice mouse, i really can't think of anything that cause you this problem.
Sorry but you will need to wait for more replies and hopefully there's people who experienced it and manage to fix it. -
It is true that If I bump up the resolution the problem gets incredibly worse, but bumping it down to the lowest possible still doesn't remove the mouse lag or sway if you will. -
Also now this problem is being experienced in half life 2 and CSS whereas before it was not. Now I also get random freezes in the game, ~ 1-2 seconds, theres no time interval to these freezes they just occur, sometimes its once in half an hour, sometimes its none in 2 hours....its all very weird. I think I might have to re-install my OS again....hate doing this -
Hey how's your problem? Any luck?
-
Yes actually, got the problem sorted out after a bit of searching on google.
There are two fixes, you just have to see which one works for you.
FIX # 1
- Go Into Control Panel
- Switch to classic view
- Double click mouse
- Go into pointer options submenu
- Select or Unselect Enhance Pointer Precision
* For me enabling "Enhance Pointer Precision" made my prob go away
FIX # 2
- Right click on desktop
- Select Nvidia Control Panel
- Go to Mange 3D Settings
- For display mode make sure it says Single Display Performance Mode if your using a single display
* For me it said multiple display performance mode whilst I was using only a single display.
Im using both fix 1 and fix 2 (fix 2 since it suits my configuration). Anyhow the problem is gone and mouse movement is how it should be in all of my games now....damn mouse movement makes such a huge difference.
Hope this will help others with similar problems out
