Hello everyone,
I recently purchased an HP Pavilion dv2928se and after a few days was so fed up with Vista that I downgraded to XP.
After one full day of searching and tearing my hair out I finally managed to find and install drivers for everything but the quickplay function.
However, the problem I have had both with Vista and XP is that my mouse lags whenever I play games no matter what the game. I had the same problem with Battlefield 2 on Vista and then after downgrading to XP with Warcraft III The Frozen Throne (fully updated and installed).
I browsed the internet and found several possible solutions but none of them worked. Here are the ones I tried.

I checked my hardware acceleration and it is at Full.

I do not have enchanced pointer precision turned on.

I have a logitech mouse/keyboard and I checked the option " Disable acceleration in games".
Many posters suggested updating my video drivesr, and I did to the very latest up to date update.
Last but not least I've been using a wireless (MX3200 logitech) mouse, but I also tried with the touchpad and a wired one so that's not the problem.
I think that's everything here are my specs and the respective links...

Give this a try. Move your mouse sensor to the USB that gets a direct line of sight of the mouse itself. It worked for me. Use a USB extender if you have to.

I have the same problem (non-wireless mouse), and I have yet to figure out a solution.
It seems to only occur in certain games (Warcraft 3, for one... Very annoying, since micro-ing with the mouse is very important) only, though.
If anyone else have any suggestions or fixes... please post.
FYI: This seems to be a DirectX related problem, if you play WC3 under OpenGL mode (by running it with the -opengl argument/parameter), then this problem won't occur (at least for me). But the game does run considerably slower (again, for me) once the action gets going. -
I have an MX3200 keyboard mouse setup. The issue is most likely because of the mouse, it uses IR to communicate with the adaptor. It's terribly slow. I also had mouse lag in EVERY game with that **** mouse. I upgraded to a microsoft wired optical mouse and no more problems.
I actually have two MX3200 setups and they're both the same way, the mouse is trash, get a new one if you can. -
Im having the SAME problem with my notebook. I am also interested in downgrading to xp. (if you ever find the time, you should put up a tutorial. Im sure many of the hardware drivers are similar in their current line up.)
i have the HP Compaq cq50-110us.
May be a processor problem?
