Muliplayer Defense game?

I was playing(rather, grinding, endlessly) Torchlight this past weekend and I've rekindled my love for RPG action games, with a RTS style gameplay. I've always enjoyed custom Warcraft 3 and Starcraft games, especially the defense multiplayer sort, Castle Defense, even Enfo's. You defend a point, level up, learn whatever skills you want, buy items, etc. and you fend off the large army while everyone works together.

Is there such a game, pure multiplayer defense games? I've been looking at Steam's store for indie types of games, but nothing so far. I would think this is not a niche genre, but I find this mindlessly enjoyable.

 

you can try DoW2. Has a last stand gametype where its 3 hero characters against hordes of enemies

 

Ya DOTA was a blast. I like the coop games too, like L4D2.

Recently I've been playing Fat Princess on the PS3. I haven't found a game quite like it on the computer yet. I sooooooo wish it was on the PC.

 

Starcraft defense was awesome, I remember I made one of those maps and posted it on some forum. The forum members liked it a lot but never got popular...

I remember a member put a link to a website devoted to multiplayer coop games. I thought I had bookmarked the link but apparently not.

 

I can't wait for starcraft 2 defense maps.

Imagine one where you have a bunch of players running around as heroes in third person mode with a few others as base builders in RTS mode having to work together.

 

SC2 is gonna have 3rd person mode?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

 

Pretty much all RTSes are 3rd person.

 

probably what he mean was 3rd person FPS where you can control the heroes using WSAD keys
