In my "what notebook should I buy" thread (here) I mentioned that I would like to output to multiple monitors (i.e. my laptop display plus 2 external monitors) and was recommended a sager 8150/8170. I have been reading through the specifications for these notebooks and don't see where it mentions multiple display capability.

I was hoping to get a bit more details about multiple-display capability, and where I should be looking for information on this. Is this something that will usually be listed in the general specifications, or will I need to be looking up the specific GPU to find this out? I don't know much about multi-display options, and what sort of graphics card I need in order to be able to use such a set up.

Any information regarding the requirements for using multiple (non-mirrored) displays and any other notebooks which might come with such capability would be much appreciated.

You are looking for Eyefinity. It is an ATi feature, where you caj connect to 2+ monitors. If you want to have 3 or more monitors, you NEED a Displayport.

Alright, so how do I find out if the notebook I'm purchasing has these features? I went to the Sager website and found that the 8170 has an nVIDIA GeFore GTX 485M. I looked up the specifications for this GPU:

    GeForce GTX 485M

And I don't see either of these features listed.

Eyefinity is ATi exclusive. You will need a An ATi GPU for it. But the laptop MUST have a displayport.
