Howdy to everyone out there! With a new powerhouse - the Ultima Mobile (M860TU) in my hands I'm looking for some suggestions on what to test it out on! So at your behest, please suggest your current favourites, with the following twist...
As you may have guessed, please suggest games only available to the PC market. Anything available on console (i.e. Fallout 3) has probably been purchase by my flat-mate already. I don't want to turn this into a trival argument about why consoles are rubbish, so please don't go off on a weird tangent to explain why I should buy something like Bioshock anyway. I won't care. Other than that I'm open to all genres and styles.
Also, I'm currently running Vista Ultimate 64, so nothing too old please. I've been able to enjoy the luxuries of Freespace, Half-Life and Starcraft in their times anyway.![]()
Currently I'm listing:
The Witcher (Will 'enhance' online)
Medieval II and the Kingdoms Expansion
World of Warcraft (Expansions to follow soon)
Dawn of War - The Complete Collection
Sins of a Solar Empire
Crysis / Warhead
So, anything missing?
-
Witcher is coming to consoles this year and will have more detailed visuals and tons of extras.
CryTek has hinted possible Crysis on PS3.
Otherwise, some exclusives are :
NeverWinter Nights series
Diablo 2 and 3 when it comes out.
Black and White
StarCraft 2 when it comes out
Total War series
Baldurs Gate -
-Company of Heroes
-World In Conflict
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.(although I thought I heard there was to be a console port)
-Battlefield 2(the console version is called Battlefield: Modern Combat and is vastly horrible in comparison; sorry not bashing consoles, just the game)
-Spore -
Also, I believe the console version of the Witcher will be a completely different game to the PC, a prequel with a different style of play. Also I'm in doubt as to whether the current two Crysis games will be re-released for console. Maybe the next one in the trilogy will have multi-release. You're right to say the Crytek has certainly suggested it!
If they do re-release them hopefully it will be alot better optimised for the consoles. It's still gonna be a while before they're out anyway... -
- Most of the Blizzard games(I HATE WOW lol)
- Battlefield 2142(basically a futuristic version of BF2)
- Counter Strike: Source -
if "PC Gamers" continue to pirate we won't get exclusives.
Too bad there is very few noble gamers left. -
I've played Counter Strike Source on XBOX.
The BEST PC-ONLY game EVER: Grand Theft Auto (1)
Yea I know it's old. -
Civ IV
Neverwinter Nights 1+2 -
Dragonage: Origins !
Finally back to what a REAL RPG should be !

I am an antipirate but I also face reality. There are alot of factors that determine what platform a game will be on and if it will be exclusive. These factors range from wether the studio making the game has the resources to go multi platform or the budget to have it ported. Console/OS makers sponsoring a title to be exclusive. And yes piracy can affect decisions as well but there not gonna make it for pc and another platform if there is piracy issues, and thats what were talking about pc exclusive not pc non existent. -
I'd say Unreal Tournament 2004 should be on the list. It's fun and the countless mods keeps you interested in the game for years to come, it is the only game I keep on my computer after all these years while others games have come and gone.
-
For that matter, buy the whole Unreal Deal pack on Steam. For $40, you get the original Unreal Gold (which is the very first Unreal + expansion pack), original Unreal Tournament Game of the Year edition, Unreal II: The Awakening, Unreal Tournament 2004, and Unreal Tournament 3 Black Edition. Extremely worth the price for all of these.
I also recommend the Orange Box and Left 4 Dead. They're also available for Xbox 360, but the PC version is far better. Valve is one of the few true PC game developers out there, for whom consoles are not top priority.
The Doom and Quake series games are also slightly older, but fun. Also, the original Call of Duty and the United Offensive expansion.
The sad truth is that most good PC exclusives are several years old, from the glory days of PC gaming. These days, almost every new PC game is a port of a console game. -
+1 for CS:S and CoH (and all it's expansions)
-
If you are into solid RTS or combat flight (i.e. Falcon 4) or ground (i.e. Panzer Elite) sims, PC is the ONLY platform.
-
Which is why I mentioned UT2K4 and not UT3 because I tried UT3 for the PC and even though Epic has done so many Unreal games exclusively for the PC, when they came out with UT3, it was ridiculous. UT3 reeks of console port. The graphics engine is well-optimized but the menu and navigating is not meant for the PC
-
Either way, I think it's a fantastic (and fantastically PC-optimized) game. Even my Studio 15 can run it at playable frame rates at 1280x800, which is pretty rare for any newer game. I don't think Epic has forgotten their PC roots. -
Heroes of Might and Magic III
The original Half-Life (yes, the old one kicked )
Serious Sam 1 2 and 3
Roller coaster Tycoon
Postal -
LOL postal was blast to play minus excessive loading zones.
-
-
Tribes Series
Eve Online
Half Life Series (Y) -
Guild Wars
Team Fortress 2 (I don't think its on 360 my bad if it is ^_^)
Vampire the masequerade redemption + bloodlines -
Half Life 2
Oblivion
Mass Effect
Fallout series -
How about World in Conflict?
Off topic:
Also, you say that if piracy is the major issue then there would be not come any game to PC: that is false, there is a PC version because still the estimate is that they can make some sort of revenue. The moment their predictions shows otherwise, like to little revenue, then no more multiplatform games for PC. And as proof: Lucas Arts and their Force Unleashed game. -
I played GTA 1 on my playstation before I played it on the computer... -
-
fallout 1 and 2, 3 doesn't count.
kotor 1, even though it's on xbox too. -
Counter Strike 1.5 (never migrated to 1.6)
-

-
-
Alot of games noted on here are also on PS3/X360 or earlier consoles.
People are just posting their favorite games.. -_- -

I don't believe that there are really any good pc-only games except for Crysis and CoH and well as World in Conflict. I also believe that creators are moving towards consoles because they are growing larger and larger, and piracy is very limited (although I have flashed my X360 Drive to backup my OWN games...)
However, there is only one word to describe why don't think that consoles will ever surpass PCs:
Mods.
Oblivion was a decent game of 4 GB, now I have a great game of 12GBs. -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Far Cry - The console versions are completely different games.
-
A game can almost be considered PC exclusive if it was released and optimized for PC FIRST, then released for consoles. Not really exclusive, but not consolized.
-
Starsiege tribes - the original never released on console and it was by far the best PC game ever
-
-
Does Starsiege Tribes still have a decent following for online play?
