When I purchased my Dell Inspiron 1720 is said it had a 256MB 8600M GT card, as does the invoice.

But now when I run Aida32 or view Desktop > Properties > Settings > Advanced it tells me I have 512MB 8600M GT.

So I am a bit confused. Do I have 256MB Turbo Cache, giving me overall 512MB (half on-board, half from RAM)... or do I have 512MB on-board? Furthermore do I have GDDR2 or GDDR3?

If there are test or programs I can run which tells me this then please just let me know what they're called.

    Thanks! :)

256MB turbo Cache is what you have.

Most Likely, your card has 256 on it and 256 is taken from your shared mem.

EDIT: it is probably GDDR2, not sure

It's DDR2 video memory, not GDDR2. Search the threads for an explanation as to why the video memory types are named in such an odd manner, I'm not qualified enough to give a satisfactory explanation.

Virtually all Dells with 8600GT have 256Mb dedicated RAM.
