Firstly, the most important part it being able to run the game and run it well. I have that covered with my e1705:
    T2500 (2.0 GHz CoreDuo)
    2gb 667 Mhz RAM
    7800 GO

Now, that's good and all, but you cant fully enjoy the game experience without great sound as well. Here's my new setup (not good for playing when others are asleep.)

The sound is so ridiculous that even my neighbors are complaining about the artillery and TKs (not really, but you get the point)

The laptop cost me just under $1400 after coupons and tax.

The speakers are like 20 years old but sound perfect, the sound system was free from my mom's work (they got a new one)

The mouse was like $20. It was a christmas gift to my mom last year. I plan on buying a new one, maybe even a Razer Pro Mouse (the white goes nicely with my laptop)

I think it adds more life to the game. Playing it nicely is one thing, but actually hearing the artillery echoing through your house is a whole new experience.

When I play on my desktop, I like to use a good pair of headphones (sometimes the family does not share my enthusiasm of certain soundeffects). The sound and music of a game definitely heightens the enjoyment of it.

yea. Well i only run that setup when no one else is around as to not be bothersome.. i would imagine hearing gunshots, explosions, and other such sounds wouldn't be as entertaining if you weren't playing the game.
