I ran the 3dmarkvantage test and got a score of P5990 3DMarks. It said that my score is low compared to other systems and that there may be a problem. Any idea what that problem might be?? I was using this driver 8.17.12.5947 as suggested by one of the forum members.

The problem is that it counts "similar systems" with the people who have overclocked significantly. It also doesn't always detect the GPU correctly.
Examples (from 3DMark11): My desktop didn't get the "meets expectations" until I overclocked the i5-2500K to 4.89GHz. It has dual 6970's in it, overclocked to 915/1400 (from 880/1375), and that wasn't enough until I cranked up the CPU further.
My laptop (see sig) also shows below average with the GPU clocked to 600/1050 (from 500/800), but it also shows the GPU as a 5850.
Long and short of it is that if you're not overclocking the GPU your score is right around where it should be (even given the inflated numbers of notebookcheck). It's 3DMark that's screwed up and trying to sell people something (through the ads when you click on the "error" link) -
What was the Vantage GPU score?

P5039
P4300 -
Your score seems fine to me, That's what I used to get on my previous lappy with a 260m GTX.

Yep, ~5000 is right about where the MXM 3.0 260M should be.
