Hi am having some problems with my laptop. I run on a 1,8 GHZ celeron and the x3100 GMA with latest drivers. I only get 2600 points in 3dmark2001 while my old laptop with 1,66 Celeron and GMA 945 gets 4000 points.

SO something has to be wrong with this newer laptop right?

Unless you're consistently getting lower benches across a variety of suites with the new machine, it's probably a software problems rather than a hardware problem.

Could be anything from crappy drivers to 3DM01's lack of optimization for newer hardware. And why are you using 3DM01? At least use 05 if not 06, I'm sure there's free versions of both you can download, at the very least, that'll probably eliminate whatever issues may have arisen from using old benching software.

Go to Control Panel, click Power Options. Under Power Scheme Tab, choose 'Always On" or 'Home/Office Desk'. On both setting usually a laptop will run on full processor clock.
