Well i am proud to say that i am typing this msg on my 2 day old MSI 1039 noteboo
got all the works and everything installed and hooked up. heres something i would like someone to diagnose.
the only game i have here is Painkiller and i installed it and when i play it, it is SUPER fast...i mean everything...me walking..shoting..the enemies everything is turbocharged and it sucks to play..i tried messing with the video options and no dice...i saw a post about his on another forum but no one could diagnose.
also, i use to play this game on my old crapy pentium 3 really weak vid card and it worked good. anyone?

Sounds like you need to turn on V-Sync.
-
huh
-
Vertical Sync. it keeps your FPS with your LCD refresh rate (60Hz = cap 60 FPS) it avoids the choppiness
-
is it going to be slow then when i play real games (HL2/FEAR etc..)?? if not, how do i turn it on? Thanks guys
-
im not sure how you turn it on in the game since i dont have pain killer, but you can turn it on in the ATI driver control panel.
and yes it will brings 'effective' performace down, because its going to cap your frame rates at 60, so if the card is pumping out 120 FPS, it will cut in half and send 60 FPS to the screen.
the pros are that it eliminates or reduces chopping, the Cons are that the Frame rates are capped, so if you dont like anything under 80, then dont turn it on.
Personally i have V-sync on for all my games....because i cant stand the choppiness!!! -

This could also have something to do with your processor; there are quite a few older games that run at super-speed on new computers due to their incredibly fast processors. I don't remember how they fixed the issue, but you can look through some of the threads here (or do a thread search at the top right of the forum) to see what people did.
You can probably find controls for VSync in the graphics settings for the game. -
I believe other people have had problems with Painkiller on newer systems. Seems to be a problem with the game itself, not your hardware. As already stated, try turning down your V-Sync and maybe look for patches for the game. If that doesn't work, I think you are out of luck, but hopefully you can get things up and running.
My MSI 1039 and Painkiller..on crack
