    Hi,I am new to this forum and it feels great here.

    My problem is i've bought a new laptop and 6monnths has passed since i bought it !! Earlier i could play games like Just cause 2 and COD MW2 without any serious lag but one day i formatted my C drive and re-installed windows ! And from then onwards games are lagging a bit more and at regular intervals( lagging for every 7secs)

    One more point i would like to tell is , games like AC:brotherhood do not lag when laptop is not plugged in but when i plug in it gets periodic lag (as describd above)and games like prototype lag even if i unplug the laptop !!

    My rig :
    Dell inspiron 15R
    i5-2450 processor 2.4Ghz
    6gb ram
    650Gb harddisk
    Win 7 OS
    Intel hd 3000 graphics

    Please help I've done all these things
    ->CCleaner
    ->defragmented
    ->Updated drivers
    ->scanned for viruses

    And i am about to cry now please someone help me . Thanx

    What power profile are you running - try high performance.

    Temps are pretty high, maybe throttling a bit?

    When you say lag what do you mean by it? Poor performance? Stuttering? Lagging is what happens over the internet... i.e. high ping

    As other said, first try to clean your laptop from dust in the vents.
    Most laptops have a removable panel on the bottom, if you can access the fans, try to use compressed air by shooting directly to fans exhausts.
    If your temps drop but still get lags while plugged in, try to start your laptop without battery.
    Then update your intel gpu drivers AND check if windows power profile is set to prefer maximum performance.
    You can run the auto driver update tool directly from intel website to see what's newer driver is available for your hd3000.

    About assassin creed games and others, the hd3000 is not THAT capable. However as long as you're at 720p at lowest details you should be fine.
    When dealing with non-discrete gpus always start with a comfortable resolution such 720p or 768p at lowest settings, then raise each individual setting once until you get the perfect blend between performance and eyecandy.
    As specifically the hd3000, stay away from high shadow settings and AA settings.
    Hope it helps.

    I want to know if the op has an nvidia gt 525m, that is not recognising. Maybe you have optimus graphics switching. If you have a hd 3000 it could be the integrated graphics heats up and only having 128mb memory it can't handle the textures and the fps goes down. Most games require around 256mb-512mb gpu memory these days.
