They look really nice, but we have to see how gameplay pans out. It's a nice trend to see that developers are finally putting effort into visuals, but the gameplay mechanics must not be forgotten. AOE III could have been game of the year if the dev's hammered home gameplay and polished a few things up, but IMO, they only went 90% of the way and not the full 100%.

Not long I guess for AoE3 to be out and finally see if there's any improvements to the final product. See you can download full game off net but haven't tried myself.

    Sorry guys,

The RTS of 2006 is going to be Supreme Commander.

Im hoping that at least some of you have played Total Annihilation?!

TA is considered the best RTS to ever be released. Its about 10 years old and still looks better than many RTS's out now. Its gameplay is still unrivalled.

Gamespy just recently crowned it best RTS ever.

Finally its "sequel" was announced not that long ago, Supreme Commander.

Gamespy has a massive right up on it with heaps of info.

I strongly urge anyone who considers themselves an RTS player to go take a look at it.

The scope of Total Annihilation is scary, but Supreme Commander is going to dwarf it.

    Cheers,
    Pommie

Oh yeah, I forgot to add this to my list. I did read about this on ign.com and gamespot.com and the graphics look great and the gameplay sounds good also.

Yup...this is also a must have for me in 2006.

I'm really looking forward to RoN: Rise of Legends. :) Otherwise, someone told me about some game called Earth 2160 that's an RTS. I looked at it, thought it was nice, but never thought to buy it. Dunno if it's good or not.

I'm personally going to be picking up a copy of RCT3: Wild this week. :p Hey, it's got strategy! So what if I haven't grown up yet...lol ;)

Hmm, haven't gotten any RTS games in a while. The last one I bought was Warcraft 3: FT. However, I do like Star Wars, so I hope the new SW: EaW game turns out nice.

If Earth 2160 is anything like Earth 2150 it should be a **** good game!

I really liked Earth 2150, had an excellent progressive campaign and I liked the research part of the game.

The modifying your vehicles option was awesome. Let you mix and match to customize your fighting force.

You could make your tanks much faster by putting wheels on them instead of tracks, but this would compromise armour. Things like that.

I've still got ants in my pants for Supreme Commander! Although I hope they aren't chewing off more than they can handle, the games scope is scary...
