    ?!? "Free 2 Play" ?!?

I have been beta'ing (several games) the whole summer thus far. Since I cannot break the NDA, I can give you info through published sources.
(like I did with Battlefield Heroes) ;)

This is an article that I got a while back, but was too lazy to share.
    - it covers mainly Nvidia information.
... like the upcoming NVISION 2008 event in San Jose, CA in August

Since E3 was nerfed since 2006, a number of gaming expos and events have been popping up to make up for it.

I was invited to Nvidia Nvision 2008... but I do not think I will be able to make it... not sure yet. It would be cool if NBR made an appearance with our gaming rigs. :)

A number of mainstream USA backed MMO games are finally being developed to compete against the established overseas free MMO games.

    Release Date:
    - Q3 2008

:D System Requirements (from the beta):
Not bad of system requirements if you think about it.... although a basic dedicated videocard would be preferable.

:D Interesting details of the game: (from the article)*
Before you cry out "Diablo off!!"... read the article first... keep in mind that ex-Blizzard designers are working on this.

I am honored to bring you the exclusive article that cannot even be found on the Mythos mainsite.

Some of you might have seen this cover picture floating around the web:

    ....scan-alated it for NBR. :)

I read about Mythos...apparently its the ultimate click-fest game lol.

From the looks of it...it kinda looks like World of Warcraft inspired characters with the mix of Diablo gameplay...this looks interesting.

However, im more of an MMORPG (ie Guild Wars'ish, World of Warcraft) and an FPS kind of guy.

So basically i wouldnt enjoy this type of game havent tried Diablo 2 myself.

    Still, it looks pretty appealing.

    Nice one Gophn

I'd like to add, also being a Mythos Beta tester or whatever you wanna call it, while it seems quite limited in the "3 Classes" aspect, each of the three talent trees(per class) really define a class in itself.

While i havn't played Mythos in about 5 months or so, i really found this to be a very good Hack'n'Slash. Certianly found this game to be more entertaining than TitanQuest (which i also found to be fairly good).

Just posted in another thread about this...ain't no way, shape, form, or fashion that this is like the Diablo series...except that you run around and kill things. Diablo is just a whole 'nother animal, love it or hate it.

That being said, I really like the way this game looks...

This will probably kill off games like RuneScape in the USA. Hopefully they find a consumer-friendly way to capitalize on their incoming player base. The way I see it, this is WoW-Lite with old style RPG atmosphere. It will certainly be a big hit because it is free and light, and it will probably make a killing in micro-transactions.

these beta test for the upcoming "Free 2 play" games are probably going to get funded by small adds in the GUI... not obtrusive... only a small GIF or pic on the bottom of the startup GUI.

BFH already has a spot in their GUI for such an ad, although its only black (and blank) now since its still in beta

Its like some other freeware games already out there.

i've beta tested mythos when it was first available and find it to be nothing special. i mean it's alright but it felt more like an updated dungeon siege. i wish they used better sound effects and art style similar to WoW. i know it's a beta but i doubt they'll do a significant overhaul before the game goes gold.

Ehh, doesn't look like they're Accepting invites at the moment, although a forum post had stated that the next wave of invites will be (litteral quote) "Soon (tm)"

Grrr...why is that there is this wonderful tease of a game that (at least in some way) is described as like Diablo, then it's snatched away by being MMO - at least I didn't see any indication of a non-online component in the articles thoughtfully posted. Seriously, out of all the gamers in the world, what proportion are into MMOs? Is there a successor (of sorts) to Diablo that has enough of a SP 'campaign' to be like its predecessor?

Meh, so with the recent happenings in the Flagship Studios, do you think the game will be picked up by someone?

A korean company will pick up Mythos and the other MMO they have. They will however only focus on Korea.

However Flagship is not dead yet so there is still hope

i have not logged on and played it for about a month now but i agree on the wow ish style characters. having never played Diablo or TQIT online, only single person, i cannot compare that experience. still for some good mindless fun Mythos is a good ride.

i hope the new Diablo has as good or better graphics than Mythos as thats the only thing keeping me from installing that game and running it again.

I applied for the beta many many months ago and never got an invite (i hope i didn't accidentally put in the wrong email address :x). It looks good for a diablo "clone" of sorts but ever since the announcement of D3, every day i set aside a few hours to play D2, i can't wait......
