When I go to options > online registration, it keeps saying "invalid CD Key" and I've checked it 10 times.
Kind of annoying that I actually purchased a hard copy of the game, unlike others that download illegally, but I can't seem to register the game for online play or roster updates. I also can't even save my progress. I spent a good couple hours trying to unlock the Jordan challenges but found that none of it savedam I missing something or does it have to be registered in order to save the game progress?
Anybody else have this problem? I googled it, but found no solutions.

Contact 2K sports and they should be able to help you out

never had a problem with nba 2k11 must be some glitch. maybe you can request for a new cd key as ronnieb has suggested
-
at what point did you have to input the CD KEY?
I just tried reinstalling and it never requested the product key at any point in the process.
is the CD KEY required to save your progress when playing offline?
I created a user name profile and it never seems to save my progress. -
afair i only entered once during installation.
i wil be reinstalling it over the weekend, ill let you know by then... -
it never prompted me to input the CD KEY during the installation process, which is strange since every game I own has prompted me to do so.
anyhow, much appreciated. -
ironic name? I hope not !

LOL
Ive been meaning to look into having it changed. Im sure it doesn't help when I try to sell stuff on here -
get a "fixed" exe
my first post in 3 months just for you -
IMO you need to get a complete game replacement from whoever sold you the game. Hopefully it wasn't an Ebayer with an account in China. -
I bought it when it first came out from Best Buy I think, or maybe Target. I didn't really notice the problem because I usually only play an exhibition game or a couple of quarters. Only recently did I try to log in to update the rosters, which requires an account and CD KEY.
LOL
but you know what, perhaps it is because I don't leave the DVD in the drivesince I only have a DVD drive in my HP docking station. Plus, all my other games are from Steam. Anyhow, I'll give it a try tomorrow. I'm going to feel really dumb if that is the problem

Strange, on the previous installation it would never ask me to put the DVD in the drive. Now it is, but it is also saving my games. However, the CD KEY still doesn't work. Guess I'll contact 2K sports.
What's a fixed .exe? Is that the file that doesn't require the actual game disc to be in the system? Sorry lebob23, I thought you were joking for some reasonThanks though.

i have reinstalled my copy of nba 2k11 on my new laptop and the only time you are required to use the cd-key is when making a new online profile.
unfortunately, if you already have an existing one like msyelf, your cd-key is already tied to that profile. it took me a while to remember the username and password i registered with the cd-key since i played this game last sometime november last year.
i think the reason why your cd-key doesnt work is because you already used it to register an online profile. if you cant remember the details of this profile i think your only recourse is to contact 2k.
good luck -
perhaps some one out there hack your CD KEY
-
^^^
That's what I'm starting to think because I'm 100% I never registered the CD Key to create an online profile. I have many games and the only ones I have ever played online are Dead Rising 2 and L4D 2
