I have AOE II and AOE III, but I haven't been playing them for a while. AOE III graphics are awesome, but the gameplay isn't great.

Awww..AoK? I'm an AoE I fan :) Heck, I still prefer AoE Trial to the actual game. Something about the unpatched Rate of Fire bonus of Assy archers just draws me in :p

The Celt's woad warriors are awesome.

I'm an AOE II fan, I never really got into AOE III. I recently got back into AOE II because I started playing with my friends at school who found an AI script somebody had created. Its pretty challenging and we have yet to beat the hardest comp. in an even strength match. I don't believe the AI cheats as much, but I know they still start with more resources. They're able to attack more efficiently (destroy walls, collect relics..etc). This is the version where the comp. says "Die" when they attack and "Grr" when they're losing (lol). If people are interested I'll dig it up and post it.

i gave you a link crim you lazy fat man.

i am a goths fan myself.

add me to the club. not that i will be able to play any games over the next couple of weeks anyway.

i will pm andrew about allowing us to upload recorded game files. not sure if he will let us there.

i am reasonably good. i can beat 3 computers on hard that are allied. on gamespy i play either land nomad, black forest, or michelgoldrush (a map divided in half with trees with heaps of gold) i have played a fair bit online, and would prefer to play with people that are fairly good as well. if you need some ideas/help i will post some good recorded games that are rather insane. (i generally get my arse wiped in these)

any questions regarded strategies i would be glad to help.

How to play as persains w/o losing resources by the time you areat imperaial age?

Also, in many civs, after like 45min, i am at a food shortage. Any advice?

YOu should get AOE 2 gold edition. Its a lot funner inspite of inferior graphics. Screenshots of AOE2/3 can be found at Gamespy or IGN

HAHA, i havent played this game for years! This is the only thing that kept me sane when i lived in Saudi Arabia. Used to play as the Britons - nothing beats a whole phalanx of Castle Archers with a couple of priests behind them! Ive got AOE3, but my old computer couldnt handle... might give it a go now i got my new one...

I always made relics my number one priority when playing - nothing like free gold!

Wal-Mart might have it. They tend to have old but good games like AoE II.

I always liked AoC (bought the Gold Edition a few years ago), but never got to play online due to the days of limited dialup. Other than playing the demo once with a friend (and getting owned) before I had the game, which subsequently convinced me to buy it. Haven't put a whole lot of effort into the new online options thus far.

I've also played AoE III, mostly online. Burned out of it after awhile, though, but had quite a bit of fun with it as well.

Abstained from the poll because I like to play with all the different civilizations from time to time. Really like the Cho-Ko-Nu, Cataphract, Tarkan, and Gothic unique units though. Teutonic Knights are also pretty sweet, just a bit slow for a long offensive.

I remeber when AoE and AOE2 came out and I made sure my PC could run it....both times. AoE3 is great and all but 2 by far was better.

A fully garrisioned Teuton Kinghts is to be feared. Since infantry fire arrowns in the Teuton Castle, it has like 11 arrows!!! Also, even if enemy take it down, there are 20 Elite TK waiting for them ;)

with persians focus on cavalry and archers.

    without losing resources???????

in castle age you want about 30 on wood about 30 on food 25 on gold and 15 on stone. once you run out of stone, put them on food, and out of gold, put them on wood. you should be in the castle age in about 21 - 23 minutes at the latest. with imperial at about 28- 29 depending on if your going for a castle rush or not. do that with every civ.

THAT'S IT?!?!?! Dude, you totally suck :p No, you don't but I mean in AoE3, I have like 60. And two factories with that. In EE I would get like 150 citizens. You need to keep the economy going.

well thats the problem. i have 15 to 30 on one resource :p

aoe3 sucks donkey balls so i won't go there. and ee is totally different as you can only have 6 villagers to a mine and you can't trade resources and you don't have trade carts. so you end up with millions of food and wood (and massive fights over resource patches.

in a good game i generally run out of gold and stone. but then i can sell wood/food and trade. if i played a game long enough too run out of trees, it would suddenly suck balls.

i have a couple of recorded games. 1 vs 1 against a hard computer. in one i do a feudal age rush as the goths, and in the other i do a tower rush as mongols (although britons are quite good for this as well). If anyone wants them, please pm me your email and i will send them to you.

I used to play all of the series, still have them all. I actually liked AOM a lot. I have the AOE3 Asian expansion but haven't laoded it up yet. I played AOE1 so long, AOM came out before I got to AOE2 :)

I pretty much rocked at all of them, and online. I was Budgustus or Dickeroo or something like that, Bastard at one time. Wouldn't mind getting into them again. The only thing that deterred me online was the damn cheaters, laggers, and drop-kickers that find some way to not have an A** whooping count as a loss for them or actually show up as a loss to the team winning.
