My experimental NBR Starcraft 2 Game Night has been a success and seems to be only getting stronger.
I have set a scheduled time each Friday night for the NBR SC2 guys to get on and play.
Steam events allow me to sync the time for multiple users across different time zones.
The SC2 game nights will continue, however I realize that of the whole NBR community the amount of SC2 players is probably a small percentage, and we are only using one day of the week.
So this thread is going to determine our next official NBR Game Night to help expand the experience beyond our current SC2 community.
What I need is to figure out what night is best an what game is in the highest demand.
Due to the nature of people working and things Friday & Saturday night are the targeted nights.
We can have more than one game event on the same night, I am sure many of you would like to get on Friday nights to play that do not own or play Starcraft 2.
The first thing I need to do is determine the list of games to vote for.
My common sense tells me the most popular games are.
> Team Fortress 2
> Left 4 Dead 2
> Battlefield Bad Company 2
> League of Legends
However I am sure there are more popular choices besides these 4 games.
Voting has started, see the links below in the next post to vote for your games & times, and view the current poll standings.

Administrative Opportunity: If the event is at a time I can not manage or I find a good right hand man, I could be looking for an admin for the new game night. You would take ownership of the new game night like I do for Starcraft 2. This means scheduling the event weekly on steam, being on to play the game almost every week on time, help organize the groups, and help run the Mumble server. You would need to be mature and somebody I can trust.
You would gain Admin status in the NBR Steam Gaming Group and Admin status in the NBR Mumble server. If your game of choice wins and your up for these duties let me know.Last edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015 -

With it comes to CoD and BFBC2 its hard to determine to play vanilla or the expansion.
The expansion offers more and is newer, but less people may have it. So thats why the vote has to be cast to determine the demand. -
I think 24 hours might be a little too quick. I like it though! I don't play too many co-op games these days because rarely can I find people to play with that I have some commonality with. I've always wanted to play L4D2 more but just joining a group of unknowns its not as fun.
Since Portal 2 looks like it may be co-op as well, hopefully then we can get a group going for that. But that's four months out... one day at a time I guess. -

24 hours is only to see what interest in games there are, the voting will be a week long.
I do not need a lot of time to see what games are popular, by tomorrow I will have more than enough posts and see the patterns in the popular game choices. Also I want the most active (people who visit almost daily) members to be the people that get to present the game choices to me.
BTW Just saw Portal 2 co-op trialer I didnt know it would have that, makes me want it even more now!
However I think a game of that nature wont have much replay value and its not mass multi player so not too suited for a game night event, but it is the kind of game good for the NBR steam group so you can see who else has the game and when they are online or playing. You know I am game anytime for Portal 2 Co-Op!
P.S. I like portal so much that this is my current gps voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc16D3W_aUY -

I suggest AA3, a great game since you dont re-spawn till the round is over.

L4D2 and TF2 Beta.

-Votes for LoL-
Where's Dawn of War 2 >:[ -
I'm game for L4D2 and TF2. I'd prefer L4D2, since I'm pretty harmless in most FPS I play.
-
I'm on Mumble looking for players for TF2, BC2, and LoL
-
I'm up for TF2, LFD2, and Black Ops
-
Another vote for LoL.
I also wouldn't mind seeing Counter Strike: Source, but I suppose Black Ops is the more popular choice these days. -
Yes, Black Ops would be fun, or MW2 even if it's "outdated" regarding the CoD series.

L4D2 and black ops!

Ok guys I just opened the poll's go in there and cast your vote.

The methodology behind this system.
I was going to make everybody pick just one game from the list so I know you pick your #1 favorite game, however I think some of us are sort of neutral and would not mind playing a few of the games on the list, so I allowed voting for more than one game.
In doing this I can see what game houses the largest number of users and see what game is most popular so I can make the best choice for the game we shall use.
I will be plugging in some fancy excel formulas here soon to count the game entries and add them up for me soon as I have some more votes on the spreadsheet.
As for the Night of the week. I feel confident that Friday and Saturday are by far the most two viable nights since work/school/kids excist for most of us. I did not want to allow multi voting because I really need to know what night is "best" for you to give the highest chance that each person voting will participate on said night.
For time, I was going to allow a voting for the time your usually on on a multi vote, but decided its best just to know the time you want to start.
Each week in SC2 is very random when we get off, its just sort of when we get tired, and some go off earlier than others. The most important thing to know is when most of us get on to play so we know when to start the event and when to form the parties.
Im in EST time zone so thats the time I am basing everything off of, if your in another zone make sure you convert the time.
Considering we can form a max party of 6 in SC2 very easy and sometimes have to leave people out, Know that if a game wins that can not house large parties that we may end up forming more than one party, we have Steam & Mumble to help organize this so it should not be a problem. I do like it when we can all be together though its better that way.
Well everybody have at it and lets see if the new game night is a success.
Voting should run for one or two weeks to get good results before I take action on the poll. -
would we also use NBR mumble chat server too?
-
We'll use it
If you can use it please do. If not, then not to worry. The ninja cats will come and kill you soon enough

wow first poll results are crazy for the time. 6PM EST... We start SC2 at 10PM EST and most people dont even get on till about 11PM sometimes.
6PM I have not even eaten dinner yet
This is why I needed to know the times though, we may have more than one even time based on the data. -
Where's the "Anytime's fine" option >:[
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Need people to dedicate to a chosen time as best as possible, its not WoW raid where you must attend, but should try to attend.
I dont think you can dedicate to be on "any time"
Esp during your um.. cat naps. -
My cat naps are so random
Not like I usually bother with joining shooters though

Keep the votes rolling in, the more the better.

Got my formulas and charts plugged in. Looks like L4D2 @ 6PM on Saturday night has the lead.
-
6PM EST? I'm out.
Depends on how you want to look at the stats though 6-8pm start time has 7 votes, 9-11pm start time has 7 votes. So maybe one at 6pm and one at 9pm. -
Noooooo ht D:

Also with a game like L4D2 you can have a full party with as little as 4 people, we can have people "streaming in" starting at 6PM and just fill parties of 4 or 8 (co-op or vs) as we go for the entire night.
This does not have to be a everybody on at once type thing.
L4D2 is going to be a good choice lots of people have it and its fun. No need to get our own server.
P.S i will def be a 10PM guyneed to get the little ones to bed first. We can make Reizo come with us @ 10 since he hates shooters.

I think a game like BFBC2 it worked decently before where we just had the firends list and there were enough people on periodically where you could hook up with a couple people. Although a full entourage of NBR members we could own a map if we're all on mumble.
I could probably try to play L4D2 earlier, but it's not quite a game that I want my kids to see me playing. Shooting off people's heads, chain sawing people up, etc. It'll mess with their little minds. Look what its done to me! -
lol common your kids need to see the beauty of gaming at it's finest. You could make it into a science lesson for them
Also we should make an NBR clan lol
-
-
Does anyone want to play L4D2 right now (Black Ops isn't done downloading from Steam yet)?
My Steam name is the same as my NBR name.
I voted, but I also agree with Reizo; anytime should be an option. -

So i guess people don't like to game on the weekdays?
I don't doo much after work... would be the best time for me.

I'm always around depending on what game you're playing

A bump for great justice.
Want the votes to keep coming in. -
I'm usually around. Should be free after 10pm most nights if I don't crash asleep while putting my kids down.
-
Is there still no verdict on the times yet? ._.
-

Anything going on? -
