I had a thought about holding an annual NBR user's gaming awards. I bring this up now so that I can both get an idea for how many people would like to contribute to this and interest in it, as well as getting people to start listing games they'd think should be nominated so we're not doing a whole year's worth come December or January.
There really will only be voting required, and request for donations so we can send a simple plaque or something fun or stupid to the publishers when they win. Would also request help in getting proper contacts to the publishers so it can be forwarded as appropriate.
This will be for PC games only. Before I get too detailed though, I'd just like to make a poll here before we begin.
The award will be entirely based on NBR users and not hosted or sponsored by NBR in any way, shape, or form, except us using their forum as a communication tool.
So please vote if you think this is a good idea or not.

I voted yes.

It's a good idea... BUT a believe there should be more "creative" than just "Best action game" kind of awards. There SHOULD BE that kind, but some others too. Like a "I crapped my pants on this" award, refering horror games on any genre. Or "this make me puke" refering a a game that's too fast, or too bizarre or too horrible or something like that... things to make the thing funny. I don't know, just an opinion

Rofl at this award.
"Best console port to PC that dident suck". -

We'd need an "awards committee" to plan out the awards and everything. This seems pretty interesting.
-
I hope these are gag awards and not "Best FPS of 2011".
...I voted yes. -
Yeah why not?
And followign DEagleson initiative: "console port that added the least amount of graphical enhancement for the PC version" -
Well that's the whole point, I want it to be fun. Something to catch the publisher's / dev's attention at least.
It would be fun to come up with alternate awards with funny titles. As I see it first step will be to decide what awards should be, of course at end of year may be best depending on the game though.
Heck it doesn't even have to be end of year. We can do it now, as a mid year award. -

"Stupid But Fun Award"
"Most Over-Hyped Game"
"Best Game That Nobody Even Heard Of"
"Too Much DLC Award"
"Most Morally Subversive Game"
"The Unnecessary Sequel Award"
"Highest Body Count"
"Bad Humor Award"
"My Two Year Old PC Can't Achieve Playable Frame Rates W T F? Award"
"Button-Mashing Friendly Award"

"Sexiest Female Character"
"Sexiest Male Character"
"Sexiest Non-Human Character"

I could go all day!
On the positive side, I would love to see things like:
"Best New Combat Mechanic"
"Funniest Game"
"Most Twisted Storyline Award"
"Best Sequel Award"
You get the picture. -
Although it would be good to start collecting game names that we'd like to include for a vote. I'll start to make a list of significant games released since Jan 1 this year. We may have to dig for some obscure game though to give a "most stupid and obscure game that's addictive" type of award. -
sounds good to me. I'll help get the list too.
EDIT: I found this pretty good list from january on Game informer

2011 PC Game List - System Requirements and System Specs
I'm sure the list would need to be scrubbed, and there are a couple 2012's I saw in there, but pretty comprehensive I think... -

This sounds like a great idea. Although it would take a lot of work to get it done correctly. But anyhow i am 100% with ya

How about....
"Best headshot blood animation"
"Best troll game"
"Best ragequit game"
"Most ragequitted"
"Most trolled"
"Most hated"
"Most loved"
"Most loved and hated"
"Best pew pew game"
"Best best game"
I have many more ideas, this is a nice overview -
I know one game I will be nominating this year, Minecraft! Should be full released before years end, and it certainly deserves a nom, even if now it will be on 360/xperia phone as well. PC version will always = best.
