Dont worry even if you do not have any tools you can just go beat some wood with your hands. Even though the wood is pretty hard if you beat it enough times it will eventually come off the tree.

Be careful around open flames you do not want your wood to catch on fire.

Minecraft v1.7 "might" release on thursday this week, but Notch & Co scrapped the Adventure Update, so thats for v1.8.
At least we get PISTONS!!!!!

That's pathetic...they promised pretty much everything and are only delivering one of those things, the rest get pushed back as usual. I hate to hate on Notch but I see this from him time and time again.

 

Oh you guys didn't expect Notch to hold up on his promise did you? I mean.... look at lanterns! "Oh I'll release it on Halloween!... Nevermind next update... No next update.... Hey guys I'm on a vacation so next update!.... Another vacation next update." He's to lazy to do what he promises.

Anyone play... TF2 ?

 

I went to download TF2, and had to pause it, and now whenever I turn on Steam, the CPU usage shoots up, and it never gets past Download starting. Tried clearing local data. Ideas?

 

Game Booster.

 

Try to pause and restart download a few times.

If that doesn't work then go into Steam menu, Settings, and Downloads+Cloud tab and choose a different download region. I would then exit and restart Steam.

Game booster won't help with downloading the game, and it really doesn't work with anything but low end machines with little RAM with IGP GPU. Even then it won't help much.

 

I actually got it to work, but in a different way. I went into the steamapps folder and deleted any and all TF2 files. It didn't show up at all in the Steam Library after that. I'm downloading the game now.

 

PFFFFFFF.... I get 10 more FPS in games whachu talking about! lol

 

Seems like the server is kinda slow (as in not active) lately, so im asking for permission to do some server experiments.
In the meantime i will upload the SMP map and share it here, so you can explore, blow **** up or even make a map render.

My goal is to get a fully stable Bukkit setup with all the goodie addons, and proper antigrief database so we can make it public on MinecraftForum.

Please share your opinions on this, and while i may settle with a new map, i will try to edit in all the greatest of builds into it.

With enough players we could try setting up player controlled settlements and or something?

 

I stand by the idea of making 1 or 2 conventional towns/settlements (one of which is spawn), with the rest of the world being "wilderness" and fully free-to-build. It just seems like a good plan to allow everyone to have their own creative space.

 

Really? I get zero improvement in everything from my M11x to my Sager 17"... The only thing it's doing is shutting down processes which frees up RAM and possible CPU cycles which really only affects low end CPU's. if you're gaining 10 fps, then there's some serious background tasks that are consuming resources. Either a resource hungry anti-virus, or even some malware.

 

Something like that would be kewl.
Spawn town could be Admin controlled but the next town might be player driven?
And to increase traffic to each town we could make it so that warps only goes to towns and add /home "again".

zMod is great and all but its not very configurable.
Il wait until 1.7 before doing this, if the community is cool with this.
But if we get a new map then please keep "down to bedrock" strip mining to a minimum.

Yeah I've played on a few large servers with huge spawn towns in the past, what they do is make a town mine that's at bedrock level (so a huge shaft all the way down, then strip-mining from z=0 to z=5 levels). Seems to be reasonable as it'll minimize interference with other digging / constructions.

My next idea would be to add PvE, where you gain credits for killing monsters.
The credits could then be traded on a server shop plugin giving you items in return.
Might also make it so that you can also sell rare items to the same shop for credits.

Other uses with credits might be tool repair, warp gates ect.

But since Minecraft 1.7 wont add all the kewl "adventure" stuff im just gonna delete all the unused or damaged chunks from the map and let them remake themselves.
As long as i keep the same map seed it should look the same.

Offtopic: Wish NBR had a separate subforum for community hosted stuff like my MC server or Vicious Mumble server.

 

Sorry I have not been on much lately.

I have the kids (all 4 of them) to myself and what little free time I have to myself I have been using for my lets play videos on youtube.

I still am doing SC2 as well on Fridays, gotta try to maintain what little skill I have left


P.S. I will miss zmod it was by far the best mod ability kit I have seen. Gave me the power I needed to fix/repair things but also let me do some other cool stuff.

Server is running Minecraft v1.7 now.
I took a backup of the old server and reset the map, but not without a proper Spawn Town.

Monsters are disabled, and i will upload the old map sometime today.
Since i did a full backup i can revert if people want it, but for now lets just test out pistons.

BTW This is not a permanent map.
I will change back to the old one.

 

My Minecraft won't even update, it cannot connect to minecraft.net....

If players want a fresh map thats kewl, but if so i will let each player import 1 building from the old map into this one.
But if they want to keep the old one then thats no issue either.

 

Either way is fine with me, as long as I can keep my pyramid, haah. Its at estates on the old map.

My IRL friend ("keepslipping" on the server) told me last night that his hole had been entirely filled with dirt and he can no longer destroy blocks. Any idea what's up with that?

Edit: Finally got it to log on, but map reset by itself?
Il load the town map again.

Edit 2: Map has been changed to small town with outside farming areas.
Feel free to either camp at spawn or start exploring.
Il add plugins once the Bukkit plugin devs update their work.
(Ditched McMyAdmin too, because im thinking that was the root of my plugin woes.)

Lastly, heres the map in a 7-zip archive.
Unpacked this is 120mb worth of goodness.
Just extrack and place it in the save folder.
