    Hey guys,

I just installed CS:S on my Dell Vostro 1500 with the following specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz
    2 GB RAM
    Nvidia 8600M GT 256 MB

This computer should run CS:S like butter on high settings, but it doesn't. I get like 40-50 fps just walking around and like 20 fps in a firefight, even 1v1. I tried to put it on lowest possible settings and it's exactly the same as in the fps doesn't improve. I've updated and tried many different drivers from laptopvideo2go. I am running on Vista Business. I also have this problem with the Battlefield series which this computer should run decently. On lowest settings I get really bad fps. Before I downgrade to XP Pro, I want to have a last attempt at fixing the problem.

I know it's not a gaming machine but my Inspiron with 1.6 GHz with 768 MB of ram and an ATi X200 could run the game better than this. HELP ME PLEASE!

    THanks.

    Try any of these two:
    - Make sure CS:S has the lastest patch(es).
    - Try to do a clean boot ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796). Now: since CS:S is online, I don't know how unsafe is to turn off the antivirus. Be careful.

I dont like to see laptops suffering, I think you should just put er' down.

    j/k

The Asus C90S has an issue with the 256mb 8600GT and using any drivers other than the stock ones, I suppose its not impossible the Dell unit suffers the same issue since its the same video card.
