I have recently purchased DV7 Pavilion with i7 Quad processor, 8gb ram and ATI 7690m XT (2GB) GPU (with swichable Intel GPU)
On paper it should be a monster game machine (better than AlienWare) but the GPU is slowed down by the Jurassic old Catalyst software other GPU support software.
The Catalyst used for this particular GPU is form the 2010 Catalyst (that was basically modified to support the new graphics)
ATI doesnt even mention this new 7690m XT on their site little alone any actual up -to date driver support.!!!!!
The 7690m XT should have no problem running Batman Arkham Asylum or City but it does..
It performs like my old Toshiba with Nvidia GT330M GPU.. (which is disgraceful)
Any IDEAS or rummors of HP actually asking ATI to provide a new drivers? or are we stuck with 1000eur machine with 3year old graphic driver??

You do know a 7690m xt is a 40nm card and nvidia equivalent performance is like a gt555m. Its more mid-high range. The new gt640m 28nm kepler card with a ulv processor outperforms your card. Alienware would easily beat your computer. Your graphics card is basically comparable to a gt555m.
Also are you sure you are using your amd graphics card or is it detecting intel integrated graphics.
This link has a solution I believe.
